Before politics, there was a backyard garden in Marion, Louisiana. 🌱 My mom and I used to harvest vegetables at sunrise and deliver them to elderly neighbors who couldn’t get to the store.

That’s where I learned leadership starts with taking care of each other.

In Louisiana, 800,000+ people face food insecurity. That’s not inevitable. It’s a political choice.

Still paying the bills. 

Still waiting for leadership that puts Louisiana over politics.

The State of the Union is one thing, but the state of Louisiana is another. We deserve representation that fights for working families, not political power. We deserve leaders who show up for us — not just for cable news hits and party loyalty.

Johnson has climbed the ladder in Washington. But Louisiana hasn’t climbed with him. That’s the problem.

If this is what “leadership” looks like...

Why are LA families still paying the price?

Why are rural hospitals closing?

Why are Social Security & Medicare constantly treated like bargaining chips?

Why are we still waiting for real solutions on insurance, disaster relief, and coastal protection?

And when he praises “leadership” in the House?

He’s talking about Speaker Mike Johnson.

Johnson isn’t some backbencher. He’s in power. He’s in the room. He’s part of the leadership team shaping the agenda.

When he talks about “law and order” and “America First,” ask why Louisiana still ranks near the bottom in healthcare access, infrastructure investment, and opportunity.

When he talks about “energy dominance,” ask who’s cashing the checks, and who’s living next to the pollution.

Ask why our coast continues to erode while Washington pats itself on the back.

When Donald Trump talks about a “booming economy,” ask yourself why families here are drowning in homeowners insurance premiums. 

Ask why grocery bills are still squeezing working people. 

Ask why small businesses are paying more and getting less.

In tonight's State of the Union, you’ll probably hear a lot about "strength."
