This sadly demented man doesn't realize *he* was president on Jan 6, 2021. Get him in an assisted living facility ASAP.

Looking for the "leaders" of Antifa — a philosophy, not an organization — is so stupid. You might as well look for the leaders of Optimism, or Being a Morning Person, or Virgos.

Wisdom, moral imagination, an enlarged sympathy for those who live or have lived differently from yourself. This is what you get from studying the Humanities. So quite important, actually.

Um, ICE just coldly shot an unarmed PRIEST in the head w a pepper ball when he (and everyone around him) clearly posed no threat.

For the crime of … complaining about government policy.

Core 1A speech.

With cameras rolling, they’re sniping priests for sport.

Eventually You're Going to Have to Stand for Something On accepting the fascist offer and being better than Ezra.

I wrote about why the regrettable conclusions of Ezra Klein pissed me off so badly in the last couple weeks.

On moral cowardice in an era that calls for clarity, and a popular political instinct to try to solve divisions of abuse by ignoring causes. www.the-reframe.com/eventually-y...

It is not a coincidence or a historical contingency that the US right is fundamentally based on lies. This is true for all reactionary politics at all times & places. It is intrinsic to reactionary politics.

Not much in the constitution that is more blunt or straightforward than this. Compared to this the 2nd amendment is a cryptogram. Any court that finds that the President can end birthright citizenship is an illegitimate court.

Hundreds of Alligator Alcatraz detainees drop off the grid after leaving site As of the end of August, the whereabouts of two-thirds of more than 1,800 men detained at Alligator Alcatraz during the month of July could not be determined by the Miami Herald.

This is the real story of ICE. 1200 detainees have disappeared just from Ailgator Alcatraz. Their families and their lawyers can’t find them. www.miamiherald.com/news/local/i...

The Weakness and Incompetence of American Authoritarianism And why it needs to be continually highlighted.

As @dandrezner.bsky.social notes, we must highlight where Trump's authoritarianism is failing, too.

"Civil resistance works. Combined with the inevitable economic downturn, it is what will bring his regime crashing down to Earth."

One of the great and most exploitable weaknesses of fascism is that it genuinely comes to believe in the hype of its own claims to superiority, rendering caricature reality, and in doing so severely underestimating the resolve of groups it is targeting

Who is this god they speak about?
This god of guns, but not of grace.
This god of greed, but not generosity.
This god of the womb, but not of the woman. This god who cannot hear kids cry. This god who fears dark skin.
This god of America, but not all of America? Who is this “god”

Got to wonder how many rich guys with an Epstein problem REALLY didn’t want a woman in the White House. And went above and beyond to prevent it.

It blows my mind how thoroughly America has demonized socialism, a perfectly normal, sane political worldview even if you disagree with it. Call something "socialist," and most people will just accept it as meaning "bad."

But it doesn't happen with libertarianism, which is facially idiotic.

Worst thing of all of this is the years in our lives wasted when society could be making progress to life being better, more fair, more kind, advancing real intelligence & preserving the natural world.

Time is fleeting, then it’s over.

All of Our time wasted, because of him & them.

an AI image of a pastrami sandwich. not to overuse the word non-euclidean but what else can I say to describe these layers of meat? this one also has some kind of yellow sauce leaking out of the bottom, and another yellow sauce being sensuously drizzled on top. in the lower right corner are baffling tubes that sort of look like if roasted carrots fucked a soft pretzel.
