Whole-Body Hypothermia for Neonatal Encephalopathy This randomized clinical trial investigates if hypothermia initiated at less than 6 hours after birth reduces the probability of death or disability at 18 to 22 months’ corrected age in infants 33 to ...

Preterm cooling trial published, previously presented at PAS 2023.

No difference in primary outcome. Bayesian analysis suggests 87% probability of increased risk of death with hypothermia. Practice changing for those who are cooling this population?

I guess it's not surprising that our organizations and journals must lag a bit in adoption of a new platform, but they are an important part of the conversation. Let's encourage whatever we're affiliated with to take the leap. We can log them here (currently pretty sparse)

A friendly reminder to #NeoSky on a pet topic:
PPIs have very little evidence of benefit in neonates and potential for harm.
We did a systematic review of acid suppression after TOF/OA (EA/TEF) repair and found no benefit: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
