At a bare minimum, why would they come out against it so strongly? Especially with AOC’s background. There comes a time when have to start playing more cards than “it will be our turn eventually.”

The push from AOC and Mamdani here has been perplexing to me. I get it if they don’t want Ossé running because they want Mamdani to be successful, but you’re also never going to have more momentum to oust the moderates than right now. Hit up David Hogg. He’s got $20 million banked for this.

The father was taken by ICE on October 24th. He has no criminal record and they followed the legal processes for asylum.

Please, if you are able, consider donating to help this family of Venezuelan asylum seekers. They need money for food, housing, and to be able to call the dad in detention.

They didn’t headline it, but they definitely mentioned it a lot. I just think it’s a bit of a silly thing when clearly people are not happy with where the “experienced leaders” have taken us.

New York Times already trying to discredit Katie Wilson. It’s ironic they try to paint her as boring, which would just mean she won even without the same flair as Mamdani.

Also, look where the “experienced politicians” have gotten us.

Katie Wilson is Seattle’s next mayor. In a stunning comeback as votes were counted for over of a week, she made up more than seven points to win. This is a major victory for progressives in the city.

Unreal. As the vote count rolled in, progressive candidate Katie Wilson has overtaken Bruce Harrell by 91 votes for Seattle’s mayor. She is 0.04% ahead after having been down by more than 7 points on election night.

You know it’s bad when even Chuck Schumer is voting against it.

It’s tough with Trump running us into the ground, I know. And this will get worse in the coming years.

But it feels like we’re doubling down on a shelter plan with gaping holes that is meant to project a good image rather than actually solve homelessness.

You can’t expect to solve homelessness when you don’t follow evidence-based solutions (i.e. Housing First).

And the Democratic supermajority in the legislature allocated 45% of the recommended homeless services funding. We’re careening towards disaster.

And a 90-day stay limit on shelters when there’s decreasing housing support on the other end? What are we doing?

What is supposed to happen if someone doesn’t secure a job, housing on their own, and every other facet of life in 90? To the streets, get swept, cited, jailed, die?

What a fucking disaster. A recipe for chronic homelessness.

Funding issues play a major role, but methodology does too.

Camping ban, increased sweeps, cut rapid-rehousing. This sets up a brutal cycle that can bury people from day one of losing housing. This will kill people.

A right-wing agitator at the Portland ICE facility attacked a protester in the driveway. It resulted in a skirmish with multiple people fighting, but it was quickly broken up by Portland police.

The man who started the incident requested an ambulance and was taken away.

The right-wing person requested an ambulance. The other person who was detained gave a statement and was released.

A skirmish between protesters and a right-winger broke out. PPB has detained two people on disorderly conduct and is interviewing them. More could be arrested and possibly have different charges.

Currently unclear how the incident started.

Noticeably more police out in the main area, including bicycle police where the encampment used to be.
