It's a tough call for Martino's finest for me, but 'Julie' and her particular vice is strangely persuasive... 🖤😁

06.03.2026 15:59 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0You certainly get your moneys worth! For me the Frankenstein element is secondary to the story of Naschy's hunchback character but it's certainly evident. Completely agree on the rats, sadly animal welfare in film is historically appalling, right back to horse tripwires in westerns. Dreadful.

Hunchback of the Morgue. 1973. Love is never easy. Harder if you're a hunchback and she's dead. Gloriously tasteless and utterly barking Naschy gem.

Brilliant! But how terrifying if anyone saw that eye peering back at them from the screen..! 👁
06.03.2026 14:22 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Cracking film. I had the VHS back in the day but it got lost over the years. I'm hoping for a boutique label to pick it up for a Blu Ray release, there were rumblings about it last year...
06.03.2026 13:06 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0You're quite right, Mexican cinema is unjustly overlooked when it comes to vintage horror. It does have it's fair share of (often enjoyable) 'bad' films, as does everywhere, but there are some absolute gems in there. This is a particularly strong example...

06.03.2026 10:38 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I just finished rewatching and it still blows me away. Definite shades of Bava but so uniquely Mexican too. Indicators Mexico Macabre set is just stunning, and there's so much material out there for a volume two. Fingers crossed so hard it hurts...

The Curse of the Crying Woman. 1961. Classic Mexican folk horror that piles on the nightmarish imagery with beautifully ghoulish gusto. Quite outstanding.

Nice one. That should've been a lobby card...
06.03.2026 07:01 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Thanks, it's the original UK release poster. I've got great memories of this on late night TV when I was younger, been a fan of it ever since. And I'm with you, Hammers mummy films deserve more love, great entertainment.
