And with that, I think I've said all I'd like to at the moment. I'm currently working on a piece of fanart for Wyvern, which i will post about soon.

It's a long road ahead, but I have met some wonderful people in the past year, and that makes all of this less daunting. I'm hopeful about all of this

The Wyvern, in all its creatureness. A quadrupedal mech distinctly more biological looking than the rest of the machines depicted in the prologue. The folded wings on the forelimbs here seem reminiscent of the shoulder pylons of an EVA unit, while a pair of thruster arms on the shoulder remind me of my GOAT the RGM-89 Jegan.

My major inspiration here is @lead-castle.bsky.social's incredible comic project Wyvern! Reading the comic and seeing all of the process behind it is the thing that finally got me to pick up a pencil and start pursuing this goal of mine. Best $3/month i've ever spent.

So, with that said, I am going to start posting my own sketches to this account, in addition to the art i have commissioned.
It's going to be a little rough for the time being, but it's good to document my progress as I improve! For reference, here's the kind of sketches I'm doing right now.

... was one of the things that made me realize that I need to start pursuing my own artistic endeavors, that I could be more than just a passive observer to the art and worlds created by other people.

This piece was actually finished around September, but i hadn't posted it until now because it suddenly held an emotional weight I hadn't anticipated when I had first commissioned this idea. Mecha as a genre has sunk its hooks into me in such a deeply personal way, and seeing him in that setting ...

A set of futuristic buildings stretches up in the distance, contrasting the isolation felt by Reef as he is tied to this outpost all by himself.

Here's probably my favorite piece I've commissioned yet, a digital painting from @pibbbou.bsky.social of Reef in an 80's mecha pilot style of outfit.

I'm so pleased with the way this came out, Pib is such a great artist to work with and he absolutely nailed every part of this piece.

Ball ver Ka is my favorite Katoki redesign because it doesn’t really mess with perfection all that much.

Genuinely bothers me so much when people think that overdetailing everything on a suit automatically makes it better. Fucking Qubeley in unreal engine type of shit, yeah just give me a mobile suit with a bunch of bullshit on it. Do these designers get commission for making them unreadable or what.

Lucas fishing in the night realm, surprised as Reef surfaces from the pool nude & with the bob in his mouth. Reef makes an evil looking face as he’s entirely too pleased with himself for messing with Lucas, who has been fishing for the entire time that Reef has been running for his life through the halls of the security sector. These two are definitely going to fuck later. Lucas is wearing a tattered lab coat revealing the purple undershirt beneath, as well as a teal fanny pack and a fishing hat.

Just a pair of researchers at GATE, starting a “normal” day i’m sure.

I’ve only built a couple master grades as far as 1/100 kits go so I’m really curious to hear what the appeal is!
(Also curious to hear if you’ve got any recommendations in that department as well)

It feels wrong for grunt suits to have panel lines like that. They should be smooth

Painted cockpit. front handle is broken off and awaiting pinning. Recommend taking that one out whenever disassembling the cockpit

Desperately trying to highlight the work i did on the control console.

I’m currently painting the plamax strike dog, it’s a real good kit! About master grade size, has some pretty good details but not enough to make you pull your hair out.
The build is also quite good, it’s only ever so slightly less nice than a bandai kit. If only i had money for the rabidly dog too.

Like yes i too enjoyed the mobile suit designs and the stark jegan fight, but the show itself didn’t really have much else to offer

M’quve breaks the antarctic treaty during the battle of odessa, and Char signs a peace treaty with absolutely zero intent to follow through. And those are actual agreements, not a vague document that can be interpreted however you want

Jegan was robbed tbh. i like the hyaku shiki and all, but the jegan is one of the hottest of all time, even more than the GM sniper 2
