I already have several uses for this

Just read the chapter with Elzar’s talk with Yoda, and it’s one of my favorites in the entire book, along with Elzar and Avar’s conversation on Naboo. It provides such a different view of love than pretty much anything I’ve seen before, and also shows how love can fit into a Jedi’s life

I genuinely don’t think you are, the crossguard? The silhouette? It’s gotta be him (or I’m just as delusional as you)

Avar repeating her “help is on the way” line from Light of the Jedi is such a great callback (and yes I know most of this is kinda out of context if you haven’t read it in a while lol)

I love chapter with Avar meeting Elzar in his quarters, it’s such a great glimpse into their lives and how they might’ve been as Padawans. And for Avar to finally admit to herself that she loves Elzar? I think this one’s my favorite of all the High Republic books, thank you @tessagratton.bsky.social

Starting on Temptation of the Force!! The final adult novel before Trials, I think I’m actually gonna make it! And yes I absolutely blew through Eye of Darkness, I just can’t put these books down honestly

Finished Eye of Darkness!! Throughout the book it seemed like there wasn’t a lot of hope, but near the end when Avar finally makes it back and Ghirra starts to see the weather get better (great symbolism btw) it seems like there’s finally a bit of hope back in the Galaxy

So Elzar was definitely trying to say “I love you” here, right?

Man, Soh knew immediately, from one mention of Avar, that Elzar liked her 😂
For reals tho, @georgemann.bsky.social does a great job of depicting a guy liking a girl. It’s just kind of a mention of her every little bit, like “oh I wish she were here” kind of thing (obviously not as scary a situation)

Just realized, Marchion has the She’ar, his bodyguards, and their title is spelled exactly like shear, as in wind shear, the difference in wind speed in the atmosphere. Coincidence because it just sounds cool, or another nod to the storm imagery?

Starting Eye of Darkness! Shadows of Starlight really is a great bridge, showing what all the main characters have been up to in the year between Fallen Star and Eye of Darkness. Here we go, Phase 3!

Okay now I’m confused on how Elzar’s robe is supposed to look, because that’s definitely a hood in that panel on the left and he definitely didn’t have that in the last issue 😂

This is a scene directly from Fallen Star!!! Also YOUNG FIREBRANDS!!!!! I’d seriously love a novel about them after the High Republic initiative is complete

Given that we don’t have a whole lot in the way of concept art (besides the beautiful art books of course) panels like these two are super helpful when designing costumes. I’m thinking about making a more comic accurate Elzar, and having a panel showing the back of his cape is so nice

Just caught this, I think the Mirialan Jedi here is Ady Sunzee, a Jedi you get to play as in Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge (a VR game set on Batuu, where the Galaxy’s Edge parks at Disneyland and Disney World are located in universe)!! Also yes I will be spamming this thread

Ever since the first time I read this comic and saw the “battle ready sabers” I’ve been wondering who they never returned to the elegant sabers they used to make after the Nihil were defeated (and yes it’s weird talking about it like it already happened though it hasn’t yet lol)

Before I start rereading the adult novels in Phase 3 of the High Republic, I’m reading Shadows of Starlight (the comic miniseries). It’s a great run that explains what happens in the year between phases 1 and 3, kind of like the prologue for the entire phase!

I’ve now finished The Fallen Star. Man, that was truly a devastating ending, and such a dark place to end Phase 1, but I loved it. Next up is Eye of Darkness, but I’m going to read the Shadows of Starlight comics first, I think they’re a good segway that explains what’s happened in that year

Every time I read this book I hope against hope that Elzar won’t kill Chancey, and every time I’m devastated when they were SECONDS from saving the bottom half of Starlight

Elzar hearing the song and Avar hearing the sea is one of my favorite things (I’m pretty sure this happens again in ToTF but I can’t remember for sure, good thing I’m reading it again soon 😋)

Oh my gosh, only 2 weeks already??? I really gotta get on my reread, it’s gonna be close I think haha
