Christmas music for me "lives" in the Glam and Wham eras outlined here, and any US stuff that isn't Mariah leaves me so cold. Absolutely can't stand the crooner style whether Bing or Bublé.

On this subject, it feels like the Christmas Carolification of Fairytale of New York as a cod-transgressive bit of cheeky scat that we singalong to, rather than as a magical piece of character writing, will be even worse this year (for obvious reasons). Probably no point swimming against the tide.

I don't think the parents actually consider the Grinch particularly hilarious either, in their heart of hearts. But its sticky, viral content. So the parents don't find it funny, it sacrifices their role as trusted caregivers, and it disturbs and upsets young children. But as content? Gold.

The worst thing to ever happen to children stuck in the awful morass of having content creator parents is when they all discovered that content of children screaming or crying with upset was much more viral than happy children. Role as trusted and predictable figures out the window for views.

My least favourite time in the content creator schedule - late November. No bona fide Christmas content yet but all the viral tiktoks are children absolutely screaming crying because parents for some reason think The Grinch destroying their home or roaring shouting at them is hilariously funny.
