If you're in SF please go see this. Disabled voices have not been amplified, and, in fact, seem to have been suppressed, in discussions of AD. The impact of AD legislation that fails to take into account disabled voices is truly terrifying.

Thank you! What I'm looking for really is a thought partner to talk through the idea with and see how realistic it is as a project. Would you like to do that with me?

Growing up in London I fell in love with Sesame Street because it was colourful, people said hi to each other, there was a sense of everyone's in this together. I was amazed to discover that Rochester, New York is actually just like this. It's grimier but people have each other's backs.

#longcovid parents (and parents of vulnerable kids) we need a Moms Demand Action type campaign in communities and schools to educate families about the risk and prevalence of long covid/other risks of unmitigated covid. If Violet Affleck has the courage to speak out, so can we.

If you can do little things for the people around you that make them feel good about themselves or that they are loved that really helps. Or get some Freudenfreude - leaning into the joy when good things are happening to people you know. And then rest and have low expectations for productivity.

Let her know you love talking to her - that it is the highlight of your day - but that you need to talk to her mom right now without interruption and that the next time you call it'll be just for her. Then ask her mom when the best time to call is to speak one on one without the kiddo.

Not at all. I think we're probably very much on the same side here. The Astrazeneca was removed because of known blood clot issues. We're getting better vaccines and we need better vaccines. Right now we're not at the finish point, but I'm hopeful we'll get there.

I also know someone who died because of the vaccine (Astrazeneca). And Long COVID has overtaken asthma as the leading childhood chronic illness. We need better vaccines, not no vaccines. And we need to understand that we're still in this nightmare and need many mitigation strategies.

How could anyone feel any pride in the UK when this man has had such poor support for manageable-with-the-right-help neurological condition that he's decided to end his life?
It makes me sick that people would consider funding AD at this point of failure of community and health care.

Harm reduction is much better than letting it rip. Consider: long covid has now surpassed asthma as the most common chronic illness in children. If you can wear a surgical mask whenever you are indoors with people not of your household you can be part of the solution.

A giant red hot burning sun floating over a playground. Everything is tinted red and orange from the heat. The text reads: Itβs not always a great day for the playground. Always check for hot playground equipment. If itβs too hot for your hand, itβs too hot for a childβs skin.
It's hot.

It feels like such a basic question. And why so many cis people waxing lyrical about trans rights? I really appreciate the kinship between trans and disabled activists but I wish it wasn't borne out of this dehumanizing kind of paternalism.

I would love for the Guardian to ask themselves before publishing: is this going to harm disabled people?
People with disabilities and the elderly and babies are much more vulnerable to heat danger.
The op-ed needed is: "When will local authorities retrofit third spaces as cooling centers?"

For my EU and UK people trying to ride this out, hearing the trope that a/c is an environmental atrocity: a/c uses less power than your house heating system and you wouldn't think twice about putting on the heat when it gets below freezing. When temperatures are dangerous, you need a/c.

I planted a pollinator garden in my tiny backyard hoping for bees and butterflies and I got wasps and chipmunks... So so many wasps: yellow jackets, mud daubers, the beautiful blue ones. The chipmunks are highly entertaining for my cat, who watches them from inside like cat TV.

The mini crossword had Bluesky as a left leaning social media this morning, and that confuses me. Is the intolerance of intolerance a leftist value or just a neutral, non-partisan issue? Are market-is-better-than-state forces thinkers eschewing bluesky?
