When I worked at Blizzard, I often joked that all the news sites that wanted to know what the next cool project was should just hire people to sit at the bar at The Counter off Sand Canyon in Tustin during lunch.

I think it closed due to COVID.

This is 100% true, but - you ALSO change every 7-10 years. The trick is actively wanting to change together, not just let change happen.

Let the things that are influencing your partner influence you, and share the things influencing you with your partner.

Also, had a run in with a guy today that brought out a part of me I hate, and I'm reminded that notions of masculinity that are tied up in threats of violence are awful for everybody, and swimming in that culture does damage to us all, including the most masculine of men.

I will say I wrote tons of shit then that I also hope is lost to time about how the Patriot Act wasn't as its corrosive nature would continue our transformation to a police state.

I was wrong about a lot, but I was right some, too. :-(

My stance in the blog post I wrote (which is hopefully lost to time, because I was an egotistical little snot) was "this is a bad idea - this has nothing to do with the war on terror. But Hussein is a bad guy and the Iraqis deserve freedom too."

Violence is the fabric of American history, sadly.

Look, I was a republican during the Iraq war. I reluctantly supported it (I'm sure a very dilligent search could turn up something I wrote defending the decision to do it.) Because I was young, naive, and drunk on the idea that "Iraqis deserve freedom, too."

It was fake then, and it's fake now.

I found the longer speech, the whole speech is so heartfelt inappropriate now as well. youtu.be/HfXmpJRZPYI?...

This is just a suggestion but if you are doom scrolling right now I suggest you take a break from that and go listen to Florence Price's violin concertos right now because doom scrolling helps no one and holy shit those concertos are incredible

OUR FRIENDS. THE PENGUINS, THINK THAT WE, THEREFORE, ARE EMPLOYED TO COMMUNICATE INFORMATION -- AND, SO, AT TIMES, IT SEEMS TO US.
BUT NOTE: THE AUDIENCE WILL NOT TUNE IN TO WATCH INFORMATION.
YOU WOULDN'T, I WOULDN'T. NO ONE WOULD OR WILL. THE AUDIENCE WILL ONLY TUNE IN AND STAY TUNED TO WATCH DRAMA.

My friend and dear heart @maxfolkman.bsky.social today reminded me of the most important (game or otherwise) writing document, Mamet’s memo to his writers on The Unit. It is my Bible. It is what all of us aspire to screencraft.org/wp-content/u...

Good first episode. Having been a software developer for, like, all of this, excited to see your take.

Long Shadow podcast: Breaking the Internet Journalist Garrett Graff hosts season 4 of Long Shadow, a podcast produced by Long Lead. The series chronicles the evolution of the internet.

Shush! Don’t ruin the ending for everybody!

But seriously, you should listen to the podcast, because you definitely get it.

I'll go listen now.

It is.

Claude is the umbrella of multiple models released by Anthropic. Usually used to refer to the coding environment (Claude Code) they offer programmers.

OpenClaw was originally ClawdBot (because it could use Claude for stuff) but then Anthropic asked the dev to change the name.

But like, Tron has always been more vibe than consistent storytelling, and I felt like the vibe was great.

I dunno man. Leto gets a lot of crap. He was fine in this. The writing is just not good.

Freakin' Gillian Anderson has trouble making it work.

The Tron world will always hold a special place in my heart, and the first one is a really big reason I ended up in video games.

The callbacks to it in Ares felt pretty forced, but still made me smile.

Watched Tron: Ares this week. Not a great movie (I think it's on par with the other two, modulo the implausibility of the macguffin) but a fun watch.

Killer soundtrack though. So many early scenes feel so good with that NIN influence. Reminds me how much I liked Legacy's Daft Punk influence.

In fact, that's the makeup of the House prior to the 2022 midterms. Seems likely to be old training data rearing its ugly head.

I mean, lots of people who are here talk about actual referral traffic and links and say it’s actually way better here, but I’m sure it’s hard to pull away from Big Number in dashboards and UIs.

I’m just glad my job doesn’t require massive reach. All my follows were from WoW anyway.
