Going to patent a version of this for sharing tables with men on trains. I think maybe it could be a very large-brimmed hat?

The recent release of the Index of Multiple Deprivation by UK Gov. allowed me to indulge my twin interests of psephology and demographics. The results a visualisation of the deprivation profiles of the 296 English local authorities. More info here www.opendatamanchester.org.uk/revisiting-p...

Our analysis of @careopinion.org.uk data showed how much patients have internalised these inaccurate campaigns about inappropriate use of A&E. I really believe that this nonsense, and war metaphors, harm patient experience in already miserable situations.

What a predictable mess. Boris used Brexit to pass a law that allows Westminster to violate terms of devolution. Starmer’s government either doesn’t know or doesn’t care that using it to spend money on a devolved area will cause a big fight. And they start the fight over stuff like bus shelters.

As set out in this thread, the causes of the court backlog are chronic lack of funding and absurd inefficiency.

The government has made no proposals to address either. Their answer is to remove juries.

Rather than fix the leaking roof, their solution is to burn the house down.

Your annual reminder that the most revealing difference between Irish and Scottish Gaelic is definitely in the words for December: MΓ na Nollag (Month of Christmas) in Ireland, and An Dubhlachd (the Blackness) in Scotland. So once again may I wish you all a lovely Blackness.

I have first hand experience of this as a independent visitor volunteer to young people in care. The abandonment of children in supported accommodation is something we should be utterly ashamed of as a nation. Good to see his urgent issue being highlighted by the @nuffieldfoundation.org .

Is "Taskification" a solution to workforce crisis?
In this paper, we problematise the term, tracing its roots to Taylorism, and argue that applying manufacturing logic to healthcare risks fragmenting patient care.

It's great news for Scottish health research that this scheme has reopened after a few years' hiatus. My CSO Postdoc was really quite transformative for my career, and this opportunity has been missed in the increasingly tricky ECR funding landscape.
