Like so many who were unable to celebrate important milestones during COVID, my Ph.D. graduation was canceled. This summer, while visiting Princeton, my husband surprised me with a hooding ceremony!
It was such a gift for some local friends, and my advisor, to honor me with this little ceremony ππ©π½βπ

The writer/editor is a position within the Centerβs Religion research team, which seeks to promote a deeper understanding of religion and spirituality. The Religion research team conducts surveys, demographic analyses and other social science research in the United States and around the world, studying peopleβs religious beliefs and practices as well as their views on related issues, including religionβs role in public life.
The ideal candidate will have a strong data journalism mindset, with the ability to translate complex quantitative findings into clear and engaging narratives that are nonpartisan and non-advocacy. This position will be embedded within the Religion research team, where the writer/editor will work collaboratively to shape the teamβs research agenda, including identifying key research questions; contributing to survey development; and synthesizing findings into accessible and compelling storylines. The writer/editor will also evaluate drafts of research reports to determine whether there are shortcomings in the analysis; edit, rewrite and reorganize drafts as necessary to improve flow and clarity; and work with researchers and designers to create appropriate charts and tables. In addition, the writer/editor will provide guidance and training to the Religion teamβs researchers and serve as a writing resource. Following the release of reports, the writer/editor may help disseminate research to the public through the Centerβs social media channels, videos, newsletters, and virtual or in-person gatherings, always adhering to the Centerβs independent, nonpartisan, non-advocacy stance.β―

Special education staff decimated after Trump administration shutdown firings: Sources
The nationβs special education services have been significantly damaged after Fridaysβs mass layoffs within the Department of Education, sources told ABC News.
My parents were Republicans because George H.W Bush signed the Americans with Disabilites Act and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. A generation of people with disabilities went to college, got jobs and lived independently because of IDEA.

Klein seems deeply troubled that the left is failing to win (presidential) elections which he views as a failure on his part (& others in his role) to persuade. Coates has clarity that truth telling is his role as a writer. so heβs not existentially troubled by the ebb & flow of history.

we learn how to do things by DOING them. yes observing is key to learning & refining a craft, but you actually have to do it to build the neural pathways that make it a skill you in fact possess.
since learning is relational, we also learn from the feedback we get when we fail or miss the mark.
