Circling back cause I just blocked this person on IG. Being followed by an Ai “author” is not a little bit sicken when you know companies are feeding whole books in generative systems. We can’t be in community if you’re stealing from people.

The romance conference landscape has changed but I would like to see cons banning ai art work and promo materials including character art. I’d also like more indie bookstores to adopt an anti ai policy.

They are trying to make a quick buck and it’s not gonna work out long term.

genAI is such a problem for romance in particular because it is at the intersection of a rabid consumer base w/ $$$$ and zero respect for the craft, so even people who might think other genres take skill are sure churning out crap is good enough & that has BEEN CAUSING ISSUES FOR A WHILE.

I am not sure if I am the best or worst person for this, though, because I felt compelled to put the current flood of AI garbage in KU in the context of the broader Get Rich Quick Scammer culture that has been there for at least a decade and why it has accelerated but is not a new problem. lol

ive talked about this on tiktok, but as a black author is it very upsetting to see other black folks absolutely flooding the book space with Ai covers. ive only read/DNFd one book that was clearly written with Ai. black writers or wannabe writers we gotta do better. anyway took the survery.
