My biggest concerns is as the baby boomers retire the percentage of high earners will drop significantly with a reduction in tax collections but with a significant increase in government expenses for social security and Medicare.

I was surprised to find out that most countries except for Canada and Germany have the same or more debt in relation to their gdp.

Our debt is now 90% of our gdp and we use 14% of our federal budget to pay the interest on our debt. That is more that all our federal expenses in defense. Fortunately, we can still borrow at low interest and our own currency.
