“Rookie mistake” 😆

When I looked into a power wall solution around the PW3 rollout they refused to tell me the cell chemistry - flat out. Told me and my installer they’d have to sign an NDA. C’mon, the entire market was moving to LFP. It wasn’t magic. VERY much turned me off the sales channel for their power programs.

Oh I’m very familiar. It’s why I won’t drive a Tesla, buy a powerwall, etc. it’s all fun and games to his companies (Whee, we’re edgy and cool and work fast and break things) but it’s impossible to have a sane business relationship with any of them.

That… is how I expect volunteer projects to work. Not billion dollar businesses proclaiming their products and services should be considered fit for purpose 🤷‍♂️

Oh, they’re updating the FAQs and descriptions in realtime 😆 Some of this has changed from yesterday to today already. Looks like if you have an account with no active subscriptions adding the ‘new’ subscription might not incur the fee. Not incredibly clear even w/ the verbiage in the updated faq

The roam charge is per account, not per device and not transferable. Cancelling and resubscribing in other docs indicates that’s a new account for purposes of fees.

They’re also charging (according to their websites) account setup fees for roam, so if you do let them cancel and re-up, there’s an extra fee there, presumably every time. Also the $10/10GB plan goes away if the service lapses if people don’t accept this new ‘upgrade’. So lots of issues.

It’s possible to resubscribe. Resubscribing is more involved than unpausing. Maybe I’m explaining poorly but the ‘product as sold’ was “buy it once, pay for what you need when you need it” & they’re changing that after a fairly short period of time to “buy it once, pay a varying amount constantly”.

The main thing that is lost is being able to pause/unpause the service with a couple of clicks which is what people signed up for when they bought the gear. If they wanted to *add* the $5/mo always on low speed option, that’d be an upgrade. Cancelling all plans who don’t choose it isn’t an ‘offer’.

If you cancel and an area you’re in is at capacity you can’t resubscribe until the waiting list clears. You also are then subject to whatever plan they offer at the time. They explicitly tell you to not expect to be able to resub freely. It was also one of the major selling points of the service. 🤷‍♂️

You know I don’t watch a lot of movies but I made a point to watch it because I knew it had the mix of art styles and it was great! I think I know all the words to golden 😝 Not how it’s done or idol or soda pop etc. maybe “What it sounds like” on a good day. Road trip songs!

Agreed. I just meant so if you’re in a situation where it might happen, someone can’t just wave your phone at your face to open it, and in legal situations it adds another layer of complexity/intent/coercion.
