I’m having a terrible health week and struggling to move. The safest thing is to rest EVEN more. But also I’ve watched a short vid about how to make those sesame covered red bean mochi balls i love so much and I’m desperate to give it a go.

You might think my favourite reptile is the American alligator but actually it’s the domestic housecat. I’m no scientician but you cannot look in my cat’s eyes or mouth and tell me she’s not broadly reptilian. A furry, four-legged snake who loves me very much.

In positive news, my cat threw up on the card my nasty transphobic mother sent despite being asked not to contact me.

I thought we left Twitter precisely to avoid this bullshit.

BlueSky continues to be complacent about the purging of Palestinian accounts. I see so many disappear on the daily. Because god forbid people need help & use social media to receive that help.

I have mostly stayed out of Bluesky drama, but I am PISSED at this situation.

Between the awful PR disaster that has been @jay.bsky.team's posts over the last few days, to this ban, I have MUCH less faith in Bluesky PBC as an entity that can pull off managing actual, decentralised social media.

My bedroom window is not so big and certainly nothing special but it has become a haven for ladybirds. I’ve counted at least five gorgeous fat beauties pootling on the glass. I guess they want to come in. But I don’t have any aphids for them to monch!

I invented a great new cocktail tonight. Leave a fresh peach in vodka for thirty hours. Mix the peachy vodka with whiskey and a dash of angostura. Sip slowly over the course of several hours while watching Lee and Cushing camp up the peril in Horror Express. Delightful evening.

I’ve meditated and reflected for 20 consecutive days. Going balls deep for the month of Elul. The King is in the field and I’ve been giggling with her. And it’s really helping me manage my overwhelm in the classroom.

Last night I harvested peas. Plump green orbs of delicious.

And a handful of blackberries that aren’t meant to be ripe in July in this country but somehow were.

I found some potatoes lying around in my garden. Washed them, chopped them, boiled them: absolutely delicious.

Just so delicious.

I feel very lucky to have a garden that produces very small quantities of very tasty food.
