There is a particular process to finishing MDF. You can’t just paint it and job done. High grade sanding between coats with meticulous inspection is required to be able to achieve a high quality finish.

I’m in awe of such skill. Such a beautifully carved wooden door panel from a Buddhist manuscript cabinet in the British Library. They are often called a krop or shrine cupboard, used in parts of Indonesia & mainland Southeast Asia to protect sacred texts written on palm leaves.
