World's largest study of global climate related mortality links 5 million deaths a year to abnormal temperatures
Study of global climate related mortality links 5 million deaths a year to abnormal temperatures.
In case you think the analogy with murder is a little far-fetched, a team of researchers led by Monash University found that between 2000 and 2019, 5 million extra deaths were caused by climate change related extreme weather events. www.monash.edu/news/article...

Instead we should be stopping murders, wherever they happen - that is to say, we should be actually stopping emissions. Not burning or digging up fossil fuels. Not bulldozing native forests. We all know what to do.

I agree with the Liberal Party. Net zero is a scam and we should abandon it. It's like saying it's OK to commit murder as long as you pay a surrogate to have a baby at the same time. Also, that it's ok to procure multiple murders in another country because that's the other country's problem.

'Freddo Frog' charge reveals police racism
Were it not so outrageous, it could almost be funny. A 12-year-old Aboriginal boy was brought before a Western Australian court on a charge of receiving stolen goods. He had accepted a chocolate Fredd...
2009
He had accepted a chocolate Freddo Frog worth 70 cents from a friend who had allegedly stolen it.
'But the incident is far from amusing. The case gave a revealing insight into the entrenched racism of WA's "justice" system. Indigenous people in WA are the most imprisoned people in the world.'

I think this is absolutely correct. The right wing of politics has been very quick to harness this anger and turn it to their own ends, which are mainly 'make rich people richer'. The mainstream left has resisted and tried to be the 'sensible centre' when they should be for radical redistribution.

Yep. But they won't because that's not what they're preselected to do. Our major political parties are not fans of democracy. That's why I don't vote for them.

Lol, it's not a threat until it is. They are counting on their billions to allow them to shift the risk to poor people, but they're willing to put a bit of money into finding a cure for malaria as a climate catastrophe offset. :(

This is how war works. When the troops are at war people rally round the flag, the media falls into line (often under some degree of compulsion, sometimes via self-censorship), the enemy is demonised and the warmongers get rewarded.

Wi-fi connected devices are so 2024. My current hate is opening a 2-page pdf and having Acrobat Reader offer me an AI summary of it. Or doing a google search and seeing the first entry is an AI summary on the issue which says exactly the same thing as the Wikipedia entry.
