Are there any records for passengers leaving Sevastopol in the 1880s? My great-great-grandfather's USA passport application says he left from there. TIA.

Been playing with Full-Text search at FamilySearch. Today experimented with a search for a street address in Chicago and discovered numerous references. #genealogy genealogytipoftheday.com/index.php/20...

Unfortunately, future generations don't want our messy boxes of disorganized documents, unlabeled photos, and half-finished research notes. Organize, digitize and share your research (e.g., online) to increase chances that future generations will hang on to it. (SJM)"

"What do you want for Xmas?"
Well, I did just buy a death certificate for $37, so maybe that should just be my present.

30.06.2025 00:45 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Newspaper clipping: "Sentenced to Two Years. Judge Fell yesterday sentenced Jacob Millis, Harry Millis and George E. Finkenstein to two years each for conspiracy, arson, &c. in setting fire to the buttonhole-making establishment at the south west corner of Fourth and Market streets, where they were employed. The sentence dates from October last, when the parties were convicted."
Recently learned that the surname I've been most interested in researching, MILLES, most likely evolved from MILLIS. This led to a whole bunch of discoveries, including that my 3X great grandfather was a criminal. Anyone know if I could find Philadelphia jail records circa 1890s? #genealogy
