So when thousands of women (and children) were being duplicated--including in non-consensual AI porn--it was no big deal. But it took "only a 15-sec clip" of these two famous white men to draw outrage and fear. Gotcha. Cool cool.

Could ChatGPT convince you to buy something? Threat of manipulation looms as AI companies gear up to sell ads AI companies are gearing up to follow the social media model of monetizing their platforms through advertising. The danger for consumers with AI goes beyond data privacy to covert manipulation.

A Day for Gaza Today, The Nation is turning over its website exclusively to stories from Gaza and its people. This is why.

Media coverage of Gaza has plummeted. So today on @thenation.com, we're doing something pretty special: we're only running pieces by people in and from Gaza.

We're calling it "A Day for Gaza." You can find links to all of the incredible pieces here. Please read! www.thenation.com/article/worl...

Interesting post and thread about the loooong awaited community centre in my hood. Agree that Canadians generally have a consultation problem but the characterization of public input as 'loud neighbours' seems dismissive. Ultimately, it would be nice to get the darn thing built tho

The year of technoligarchy In 2025, Trump brought tech executives into power to dismantle regulators and write their own rules. But the instabilities they’re creating may be their downfall.

Speaking of a different kind of salt, Molly White's recap post is 🎯 www.citationneeded.news/the-year-of-...

THIS. Toronto's wanton salting makes me crazy. My anti-salt stance is partly stemming from former dog ownership (salty paws are sad paws) and partly from the no-brainer that salt is bad for gardens, fresh water, basically anything living.
