Number Shuttles πŸƒπŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸƒπŸΏ

This has gone down well in every class I’ve taught, from P3 to S3 football training.

3 (or four) players and three cones. Shout a number and they have to run to create it. For example: 8 = 3 + 3 + 2

2,3,4 or 5 - outdoor mental agility

4 players: chalk lines, a cone & tennis ball. Each player assigned a number (2,3,4 or 5). A calculation is called out & the correct answer must balance the cone on their head, the tennis ball is passed to the back & then looped to the front.

Water Cycle Outdoor Game πŸ’§

Sponges, buckets and water. Whilst the weather is good (…forgetting the wind today!) this is a fun plenary or mid lesson activity to help consolidate some of the vocab and steps in the water cycle. #playfullearning

Roll and Catch - Outdoor Maths

Some chalk lines and a bag of tennis balls is all you need for this paired activity that develops a number of skills at once.

You can even take a whiteboard and pen out and use the scoring for data handling #playfullearning

2 new stories πŸ™Œ

Both revolve around the theme of Al but take different approaches. Bounce uses all sorts of writing types: script, text chat, newspaper, poem - with Al bots against Humans in sport.

Byte is a comedy where the President has to negotiate with an Al bot that has shut the country down.

They’re some pretty stark and worrying stats. Schools can (and do) work to tackle the trend but once again, it’s a broad societal issue that will require a real change in arenas outside the classroom.

A week and a bit until some of us are back in Scotland, so going to post a whole class game everyday - I always get my guys outside on the first day back and this is a really accessible game that can be differentiated in a second!
