Census: Texas led U.S. states in population growth in 2025 Texas’ population grew at a slower pace in 2025 than in previous years, according to new federal data. Nearly 32 million people now live in the state.

Even as population growth slowed nationwide, Texas added more new residents than any other state last year. The state’s population now stands at nearly 32 million.

Congratulations to Dr. Mary Jalufka! She is the new Senior Demographer with the Houston-Galveston Area Council. She will be estimating population projections to inform urban planning policy in Texas' Gulf coast region.

via @TexasDemography: @uscensusbureau State-to-State Migration Data: Around 612K people moved to Texas while 478K left for other states in 2023, ranking TX 1st in net gain. TX saw the most net inflows from California, Florida, & New York and net outflows to Colorado, North Carolina & Indiana.
