This sounds very interesting. I presume the RMS Empress of Ireland disaster was further away from the areas you are looking at and more inland but could the fog affecting it be similar to that of your work at all? Thanks.

So in a level of WTAF .....

This morning went to Barclays Bank (which was open for a few hours) but UNABLE to pay in cash because my notes have been folded!!!!!

Advised that if I tried the machine would eat them and they couldn't access. Told to go to Post Office instead. #Banking

Okay my Mum has always shared her Clinique free gifts with me but this morning's offering seemed harsh.

I had the choice between a large or small pot of Wrinkle Correcting Cream!!!! πŸ€”

Don't think need it but can't be definite since my sight is that bad I can't see my reflection easily.

However what is so demoralising is even when tell people NO or not interested get no respect for this or ME?!

Absolutely not and most then actually worse to be around (can't cut some from my life unfortunately). Just feels like I'm screaming into a void that even when I try my voice goes unheard.

Not the kind of post I like to put out but just getting very fed up of people absolutely incapable of respecting boundaries and that no means no.

I've always been easy going and won't make waves so ended up having people tell me to stop letting myself be walked over etc which is hard when nice.

Digital Domesday Book lasts 15 years not 1000 Databases recorded in old computer formats can no longer be accessed on new generation machines, while magnetic storage tapes and discs have physically decayed, ruining precious databases.

This is always worth recirculating: www.theguardian.com/uk/2002/mar/... The cautionary tale of the first gosh-wow excited attempt to digitise Domesday Book.

Block and move on. Block and move on. Block on a whim, Block weird replies. We are not here to "win" the internet, we are here to read cool posts from experts and artists we would never ordinarily be able to interact with, and occasionally promote our own cool stuff to like-minded weirdos.

Bluesky is now open. Science Twitter, here’s how to use it! The once-great science twitter is, depending on who you talk to, either dying or dead. Once a vibrant place for many discussions related to my fields of marine biology, ocean conservation, and publ…

Friends, I wrote up a quick guide to getting started on Bluesky for folks who are used to old Science Twitter.

Please share it with your folks who are joining. And please let me know if I missed anything or got anything wrong. πŸ§ͺ

I am horrified that the University of Kent is planning the closure of many excellent programmes, including Anthropology, and is proposing up to 58 redundancies among academic staff! This further destruction of UK centres of academic excellence is heartbreaking.

Why is it that after years of being the nice person doing everything for others at cost to yourself and encouraged to not be such a doormat that when you dare to try and put yourself first that told so wrong for that too?!

My issue with Bluesky is I see so many posts from just the few that I don't see those I'm following that may wish to interact with.

And half the time if I go search under the ancestry type threads can't find much different from the same few again.

Do I just need to post for sake of posting?
