What would you do if your surgeon husband, with expensive taste and a big ego, managed your money and sent you, the kids, your step son and the dog ahead to escape a hurricane and then disappears? And it turns out that you’re broke and now living in a FEMA Oklahoma displaced persons camp.

Enjoyable story of a past girl group, single mom in London sort of looking for what comes next. She decides to investigate a missing child case from her son’s school, which is as unlikely and risky as it sounds. She’s so messy but I rooted for her the whole time.

This is head and shoulders above the author’s past two novels, which were good. Multi-generational story of what it takes to give everything to your sport. In this case, women’s soccer. Anchored in recognizing the great athletes that brought recognition to soccer and women’s sports.

Probably We Solve Murders by Richard Osman. Great characters, complicated plot and travel to many locations.

It would not surprise me to see this made into a limited tv series. Overwrought, wealthy parents in an elite, liberal town competing to get their kids accepted to a magnet school for gifted children. Best part was a teen babysitter that posts videos of what she finds while snooping in their houses.

Meh. Very similar characters to the author’s other work. I enjoyed the buyout plot line as well as the blocked violinist. The part about the dying father was a lot.

Borrowed this during a long draught of waiting on my queue. It was somewhat predictable but the protagonist was thoroughly enjoyable. I’m glad for the journey.

I loved this book. It did remind me of Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow, which I also loved. There were some definite plot holes, such as how did the protagonist never confirm the lab results? And dropping out of school seemed like a horrible decision. Also, the Theranos similarity.

I didn’t like this as much as We Solve Murders but it was enjoyable. I appreciated the range of characters and their back stories. I especially liked the former spy and the Constable. I’ll definitely watch the movie but won’t read the next books in this series.

I only read Old Man’s War but couldn’t find a link to the single volume. I really enjoy the author on Bluesky but didn’t love this novel. Fascinating concept and great characters but, dare I say it, too much war. I’ll try again with another novel by this author.

I LOVED this book. A friend recommended The Thursday Murder Club, for which I have a several months wait. This popped up and I couldn’t have enjoyed it more. Best part was Steve, the widower father-in-law who turns out to be an expert investigator.

This series is simple and sweet and it’s hard not to root for the protagonist, Molly. The resolution is always surprising. Completely delightful.

Spectacular story about the first women in the space program intersecting with hidden homosexuality of the 1980s. I was rooting for every single one of them, except Jimmy. And maybe Lydia, although you knew she was criticized a lot as a kid. I appreciated the confrontation with family dynamics.

This reminded me of An Incredibly Remarkable Thing by Hank Green, although was published the year before. It's also more centered on science, the military, and global politics. But both have giant robots. A touch of The Martian, as well. Synopsis - book one of three about a giant robot.
