Lisa Stahl-Ferrazza (@lferrazza) on Threads It's really time for journalists to start asking Mike Johnson meta questions during these pressers "Speaker Johnson, on 5 different occasions last week you said 'I haven't seen it' when asked about major news events with serious implications for public policy. Do you ever read the news, and do you agree it's problematic for the Speaker of the House to be so woefully uninformed?"οΏΌ β€”Aaron Rupar

Ron Filipkowski (@ronaldfilipkowski) on Threads Most shutdowns end because two sides who initially were unable to come to an agreement during negotiations finally compromised when the pain points hit and things got worked out. But in this one, Trump ordered Republicans not to negotiate at all. That makes it hard to resolve.

Ron Filipkowski (@ronaldfilipkowski) on Threads Today, Mike Johnson will keep the House adjourned for the 91st day out of the last 103. 12 days of work in 103 days. With full pay and benefits. The senate has been working, so this is not about the shutdown. It is about avoiding a vote to release the Epstein files.

Now it is us and Tres. Tres will continue to be lovingly spoiled, just as Olive trusted us to do.
How long were we prepared to care and love her?
How long could it take?
It wasn’t long enough.

Tres, now receiving all the belly rubs

She has grown frail,
And called to come into the house for lap time and scritches.
Yesterday was a good day,
With treats and cuddles.
This morning she didn’t wake up, and we found her under the brilliant yellow leaves of the maple tree.

Helping up plant the garden,
Work on the truck,
Refresh the books in the little free library,
Wait for us as we did the mile lap around our street.
On Friday Olive ushered me back to the house after I’d reverse trick or treated.

Over 15 years of insulated winter house in the breezeway,
Cat doors in our breezeway doors,
Heated water dishes
Mama Olive and baby Tres remained with us , greeting us when we pulled into the driveway,

Long stories are possible but I can’t write them.
Husband is allergic to cats so after they were caught and all were β€˜fixed’ we agreed to continue to care for them as long as they were with us.
How long could that be?

Our Olive kitty died today.
15 1/2 years ago she showed up in our backyard, suspiciously lumpy, and in due time had five tortie babies just outside our door to the backyard.

Yosemite Sam (@yosemitesam61391) on Threads No Dem House members or Dem Senators voted for that Big Billionaire Bill. MAGA did not negotiate or take any input from Dems. This shutdown is the very first time the Dems have had any leverage to address the atrocities in the OBBB. And they are doing it. Don't cave, @senschumer and @repjeffries ! We are behind you! Quick side point: we need to find our local Dems that need food/care and give it to them, out of pocket if need be.
