This is so interesting since we have Summer Tanagers here and then Scarlet Tanagers due to migration! I have not been able to add either to my life list yet as I’ve just started birding.

I have, however, been able to add the Vermillion Flycatcher. And I got to see it up close!

I’ve never heard them before but they sound so lovely 🥰
I also cannot get over how many other bird sounds I hear in the background! It is like a cacophony of bliss 😊

She looks so much bigger than him despite the tails and they both have the blue eyes, which is surprising to me. She looks very intent and aware to me, even in charge. And he seems ready to move at a moment’s notice, but perhaps that is how he balances?
They are quite striking!

Thank you! It was so meditative to draw your beautiful bird. Every color, every line was thoughtful and precious. It made me wonder what it was like for you to photograph this bird - how relaxed were you? How calm? How connected did you feel in that moment? It must have been so thrilling!

Thank you! It’s one of my favorite birds simply because of its coloring and plumage. The gorgeous way it looks is magnified when it soars through the air. Sigh…. I could just stare at them for hours I think!

My original #art below is a Night Flicker Woodpecker found across the entire lower 48 US states & parts of Southern Canada. It’s often found scrounging on the ground or old, dead tree trunks for insects, seeds, etc.
