How funny to find you on this thread, John. I've only this evening been in contact with someone who i hope can make replacement hats. Hannah @fitchandmcandrew.bsky.social gave me some today as Valentines gifts, mostly with hats, one without. One day, I'll bore you with my collection 😀😃🙂

Three large press moulded dishes, photographed recently in our workshop by Shannon Tofts

Morning. The one on the left is a costrel used for carrying a drink. It would have had a leather strap threaded between the lugs for carrying. The other two are small jugs, about 6" tall. They're typical of the pots made on the border between Hampshire and Surrey. We're very lucky to own them 🙂

Well @fitchandmcandrew.bsky.social Hannah and I were on the telly this evening, demonstrating slipware techniques on the Repair Shop. It wasn't too bad.

The section about Lockerbie was very moving, I remember it very well

A rookery money box. I love watching crows. When we fired our wood kiln, there was a horse chestnut tree full of rooks and jackdaws, and they inspired these money boxes. I would model them on firing days.

Stick at it, it takes time and focus. People say it's therapeutic, but I've been making it's for over 40 years, and it still winds me up and drives me crazy every day!

Tonight was the private view of the Upland exhibition, Decade, in the Kirkcudbright Galleries. It's a beautiful exhibition of art and craft, and good to see our pots in the cabinet. I always feel terribly shy at these things and want to hide away in a corner, but lovely to see lots of friends there
