๐จ It looks like the UK government is gearing up to upend copyright law in favour of AI companies, legalising the theft of their work.
This is despite creatives' huge protests, and despite previous proposals being roundly rejected by the public.
Please spread the word.

Has there been a Christian revival among young adults in the U.K.? Recent surveys may be misleading
Despite the widely recognized decline of Christianity in the U.K., there have been persistent rumblings of a Christian resurgence.
There's a lot of buzz about Christian revival among young adults in the UK & US. Perceptions of revival are fueled by results from opt-in online surveys. However, these surveys may be misleading. Surveys from random samples of the population don't show any clear evidence of revival.

How far back in time can you understand English?
An experiment in language change
If you liked this experiment, I published a full piece today in the same vein: a text that gets 100 years older with every section, from a modern blog post to a medieval chronicle.
It's a single story spanning 1000 years of English. See how far you get.

โWeโre all worriedโ: Former winter Olympian on climate change versus snow
John Aalberg, now a ski events consultant, has witnessed global warmingโs impact on winter sports
"The headaches that come with significantly altering things just to cope with climate change reveal what reengineering really means. Itโs not easy, itโs not without its own risks โ but, in so many areas of life, it seems increasingly unavoidable."

This means that Trump is giving himself as the Head of the Board of Corruption, $10 billion to spend however he wants, with no oversight from the US government and without congressional approval. Itโs outright thievery.

I hacked ChatGPT and Google's AI โ and it only took 20 minutes
I found a way to make AI tell you lies โ and I'm not the only one.
I got a tip that all over the world, people are using a dead-simple hack to manipulate AI behavior. It turns out changing what AI tells other people can be as easy as writing a blog post *on your own website*
I didnโt believe it, so I decided to test it myself www.bbc.com/future/artic...

Epstein details removed from Mandelsonโs Wikipedia page by paid editor
As the then-ambassador came under fire, an anonymous user tried to downplay his history of support for Jeffrey Epstein
Peter Mandelsonโs Wikipedia page was edited repeatedly by an anonymous user who was later banned for making paid edits
The edits to Mandelsonโs page downplayed his support of the paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, says the TBIJ.

This is a blunt falsehood from Farage. 3.5m Epstein files were released on 30 Jan and on Jan 31, the FT carried a front-page story on Mandelson (see image).
People like Farage seem to dislike reporters aslking questions. If you do like reporters asking questions, pay for some (any!) journalism.

Of course. Why would you invest in soft power?
It just helps in the kind of warfare that:
a) Russia has shown it's actually good at;
b) Russia is waging on the West already;
c) The UK/NATO nuclear deterrent is useless in preventing;
d) Costs a fraction to fund compared to military hardware.

Probably my final point on BrewDog for today, but a lot of the coverage has their "rise" the wrong way round.
They 'broke out' because they won a NATIONAL distribution contract in a Tesco craft beer contest.
Tesco birthed BrewDog, not Watt's 'shock jock' marketing approach. That came AFTER.

I like the government pivot to reminding voters that Farage is an avowed enemy of NATO & Europe & an ardent admirer of Vladimir Putin, who routinely orders the murders of critics & opponents. It is politically effective & morally essential.
