CA homicide rate is 4.3 per 100k. MT homicide rate is 4.5 per 100k. Pretty close to each other.BUT, if you look at total homicides, CA has 1,695 total homicides and MT has 51. Now, I'm not a math guru, but I'm pretty sure 1,695 is a lot more than 51. See how rates per 100k skews the numbers.
