Thank you to those that showed up to protest last Saturday! While AmRen attendees were spreading division, we were building connections and expressing our values through the megaphones. Now the work continues: stay tuned for affinity meetings as we strategize on where to focus our energy next.

This protest will be more than just a rally against white supremacy. While AmRen attendees will be gathering to advocate for "whites-only" communities, we will unite to demonstrate and uphold the inclusive communities we stand for.

Montgomery Bell state park was hit with storm damage leading to several felled trees and closure of park trails. However, the Lodge is open, the road accessing the lodge (via highway 70) is open, AmRen is still approaching, and we will still be there! Stay tuned for a protest schedule.

The legal issues also become tricky when law enforcement limits protestors to an enclosed area (which has happened the last few years), thereby obstructing citizens' access to public land.

In any case, regardless if the venue would cancel or not, our main goal is to send the message that these types of racist gatherings should not feel welcome here. That message goes towards the staff, park visitors, and more importantly, the surrounding community!

Some staff understand the risk but have no power to do anything about it. We think it is still worth talking with them to hear their take and remind them that the community is concerned.

Fair point. Most forms of hate speech are protected under the First Amendment, but we this the host should explain how far this right extends when booking an event that compromises the safety of park visitors and staff.
