Hate Free Tennessee

ACAB. Direct action takes many forms, and participation involves many roles. We understand direct action encompasses a range of approaches with varying levels of risk, and that each contribute to the collective struggle. Both peaceful and militant protests play a role in advancing justice and liberation. When we use the term nonviolent, we do not equate it with the preservation of property. Rather, we view the purposeful targeting of infrastructure associated with oppressive forces as a valid and necessary act of resistance. We do not collaborate with law enforcement, who function as agents of state violence and whose historical and ongoing role has been to protect property and enforce systems of exclusion, including collaboration with immigration enforcement agencies that terrorize our immigrant neighbors. Such forms of policing are rooted in the control of nation-state borders, which we do not recognize as legitimate on stolen land. We do not police how individuals choose to protest, recognizing the agency and autonomy of all participants. We are strongest when we act together to embrace a diversity of tactics.

Protest praxis /// Historically, we see that the combination of both peaceful & destructive forms of action lead to societal change. All forms of protest are valid, & everyone has their own lane. We do not work with cops, & we do not police each other.

Solidarity Forever. No single activist can overthrow capitalism alone. We believe in creating new coalitions to bridge the divide between movements, and although different organizations may not agree on everything, this is not the time for petty infighting. Anyone who would stand against oppression is already on our side. Anyone who fights against the police, against ICE, and against the agents of fascism are already fighting on our frontline. None of us can afford to have enemies where we could have allies instead, and when we stand together, our diversity becomes our greatest strength. Workers of the world unite!

(3/4) Solidarity forever /// We believe in building relationships across organizations, because working together will be necessary in strengthening our resistance. We are willing to face differences in beliefs and have difficult conversations if it helps us ruin a fascist's day.

Diversity of People, Diversity of Tactics. The revolution has a place for everyone, and no war can be won by infantry alone. While some of us take part in direct actions and protests, other comrades gather information and organize these events from behind the scenes. It is equally valuable to educate ourselves and our communities to learn new ways of supporting our comrades. Revolution requires both the deconstruction of old oppressions and the construction of new subjectivities, communities, and more free ways of life. Everyone chooses their own contribution, and each of us needs to do our part in this fight for freedom.

(2/4) Diversity of people, diversity of tactics /// We practice resistance in community-building events, education circles, resource sharing, mutual aid, and direct action on the streets. All of these roles and more are important.

No Hate in Our World: Our mission, first and foremost, is to make a stand for the empowerment and equality of everyone who faces the threat of oppression, starting from the scale of our local community and extending towards global coalitions against tyranny. The Trump administration may embody the worst of America's hatred, but this regime was only made possible through the excesses of capitalism that fueled their rise in the first place. History proves that bigotry and oppression are inevitable results when profit is valued over people, and that is not a system that could ever be redeemed. We therefore aim to confront such hatred at its source, and to bring an end to capitalism for the sake of humanity itself. Yet even this ambition is only the beginning. Fascist ideals of total wealth control, generational indoctrination, and domination along lines of race, gender, and/or nationality still exist in trade relations that power Western imperialism. Our continuous struggle against these cruelties provides a foundation for resistance, and allows us to build the experience, resources, and connections that will he necessary in bringing revolution to the global stage.

Authoritarians have seized control of the federal government, but they have yet to gain control of society at large. They have done tremendous harm, but their assault has hit a plateau, if not yet an impasse.
