20+ folks came out yesterday in 92F heat to remove about 1.5 miles of old barbed wire fencing within our National Monument. The fencing was negatively impacting wildlife movement & getting in the way of great mountain biking trails. #RGDN #Taos #NMwx #NewMexico #PublicLands

Beavers were brought to the desert to save a dying river. 6 years later, here are the results. Their engineering feats are pretty dam incredible.

Nature is its own remedy. Stop interfering with it. And by reviving the river the beavers not only saved the lives of countless other species they revived the local economy and quality of life by providing recreational opportunities.

Fountain Creek is 'the poster child of the Anthropocene': Author Jim O'Donnell on water, society and the nature of rivers O'Donnell had a lifelong dream of following the path of Zebulon Pike. But the siren song of the Fountain had other ideas.

If you can, please join me at the Mesa Verde Literary Festival in Mancos, #Colorado this coming weekend. You know what I'll be talking about! #NatureWriting #Rivers #FountainBook

Wonderful to hear Jim talk about his book, Fountain Creek! Thanks for pushing back on the question about how to 'use' a river. Wildlife might have a word, too.
