I don't know a university that doesn't have rigorous anti-discrimination policies in place for all staff and students but there is also a recognition that academic freedom has to be protected even at the risk of causing offence. Universities not governments are best placed to regulate themselves.

They must retain their 'distinctive identity' so they can broadly appeal to Reform voters & transphobes.

Leaving the vexed question of what constitutes anti-semitism aside (& we know the political motivation behind this is to out any faculty critical of Israel) the idea that an anon student complaint can end someone's career should be obnoxious to any reasonable person let alone university guardians

The main culprit? Foreign Secretary David Lammy who cries crocodile tears for Gaza.
