Working at a coffee shop on my dying animation sprites, I realize that if someone had a look at my File Explorer they'd think I was putting together a snuff film or something #indiedev #solodev

Which is supposed to be like the whole point of capatilism, using capital to build and hire more, not for self-aggrandizement.

Sorry that happened. I hear you about chores, when I do them that's when the dark voices start shouting in my head, luckily my wife is very supportive (and I do what I can), you definitely need a partner that understands.

Air quality has been so bad lately too. I think I actually like the idea of summer more than the experience of it 😅

It can sneak back in when you least expect it. A week ago here it was cool, now we're back to 37-degree humidity.

Oh man I am so the Charlie Conspiracy meme when it comes to developing my lore. "Let's add another faction!" I say with a manic laugh as I reach for the thumbtacks.

Can we give radio its due for a moment as well? It's usually satellite radio for me these days though I listened to terrerstrial years after everyone else stopped, and either way it's the joy of not knowing what song will come next.

Can we reserve a place in the cringe Hall of Fame for Green Day's 20th Century Breakdown? The "let's do American Idiot but vapid!" approach was so of the times.

Stairway's definitely overrated but I still tend towards its Hotel California.

I mean tbf every public company now is basically a financial services company with a sideline in whatever else it is that they say they're doing.

I got a Mario for my then-infant years back and she referred to it as "Yar-yo!"

There are also some great communities growing here that maybe got a bit lost in Twitter's final chaotic years. Maybe starting fresh on new social media sites every once in a while is actually a fantastic idea?

I feel very similarly about LÖVE's capabilities, though it's not exactly talked about all that much. I was so happy to learn that Balatro was made with it.

Close to where I live there's a railway crossing on a road that gets busy at times and when traffic is bad you'll see people idling on the tracks instead of waiting for the space to cross. Trains come fairly frequently too, I'm shocked disaster hasn't struck yet.

Random book history fact - the stuff that was used to make paper in the early days of print was literally called "stuff" - that was the technical term.

Random book history fact - the person whose job it was in the manual days to get the printing press to actually print was called the "puller" - mostly because they had to pull a lever to get the press going. Pulling to press, as it were.

In my limited experience with them I find Gen Z coders to be exceptionally good. They grew up totally immersed in the environments where we have to unlearn a lot of what used to be standard and/or good code.

A paragraph of text that reads as follow: Take Harvey Peters, 28, an auto mechanic in Havelock, Washington, who had no immediate
need for a computer nor any knowledge of programming. He bought a VIC-20, took a class , and began teaching himself to program. For the last six months he has been working on an algorithm for character recognition. He wants to teach his computer how to read from an optical camera that uses RAM memory. "I've gotten a fabulous
education for what I've put out," he said. "It's gotta be good for something."

From the results of a user survey in the Feb. 1984 issue of Compute! Magazine. Modern discourse (including the Mini console line) says old 8-bit computers were just game machines but the reality was very much different than that. Even a lot of us that loved games mostly made our own games.

I got kicked out of grad school in 2010 and I still feel like it defines a portion of my existence. Re-enrolling in grad school right after (different concentration) may have played a part in this 😅
