Still exploring creating art with colored pencils! A whole new skill set. Intense color analyzation! More eye training! I have to admit, I love the control I have with colored pencils!

Playing with new stuff this week. A trial with acrylic paints in a round practice canvas and a colored pencil rose from a tutorial at Youtube. I've not done anything in acrylic before and I've wanted to learn to use colored pencils. Big Play time!

A memoriam in roses. A remembrance of a loved one. 4x6 without the mat. I just wanted to see if this could be done. Nobody ever views a 4x6 up this close but the work is so clean that I thought you might enjoy a magnification of this with the tiny veins etched into the leaves.

Got new paint colors in this past week. Kuratake Gan Sai Tambi Granulation Colors! Talk about an experiment. This is the Aurora collection. Keys for success. Paint very wet. Mix the colors in a little pan and let them rest a minute or two before beginning for the magic to work.

This portal was created with a large Magnolia leaf from a neighbors yard. The painting is 9x12 so this is a fairly large portal! The camouflage surround is created by overlaying real leaves and different stages, and misting them with watercolor paint.

I've been playing with negative spaces created with real leaves, and then painting something I like to call a portal painting where the foreground may or may not be related to the scene created in the negative space.

9x12 watercolor painting 0f seahorse. Aquatic cobalt blues in the background with Paynes' Gray and Quinocridone Gold for vegetation and accent colors of the seahorse!

I started with a saran wrap technique that Jean Haines describes in an instructional book titled "Atmospheric Watercolors". I wasn't satisfied with the result of that technique and went back in on this with a brush, more color, and some very pigmented white watercolor for seafoam. I've never tried to paint an angry sea before, but this satisfies my need to see something chaotic, unpredictable, and very watery! I like this one enough to save it from the trash bin! LOL

I've been working on some aquatic things for group challenges. We had a seahorse challenge a few weeks ago. This is one of my submissions! I was inspired to do the ships in a stormy sea by Jean Haines' Book on Atmospheric Watercolors.

I was going through Chemo last December and could do very little. I have a skinny tree for my bedroom and decided to decorate with demitasse cups because I love tea and coffee. This has become an addiction. First I was attaching cups to saucers for ornaments. Now I am buying them to fondle.

Got this old glass juicer from a flea market years ago. Practicing watercoloring glass and crystal this week. My original photo was used of the juicer with a wedge of lemon. I'm pretty happy with this first try. Have a great day everyone!

I can taste the difference. I have the Madagascar Vanilla Bean Paste and then I have Mexican Vanilla! They are both wonderful depending on what how I use them!

I've had some interesting commissions of different types. One was in the style of Dior necklace, one was a Skull cake for Halloween, one was a space cake for a promotion, and a graduation cake for a young lady from a prep school. Just for starters!

I've been using that brand of Vanilla forever. I use it in paste form. At Amazon, I used to pay about 35 dollars for the large bottle. Over the past four years the price of vanilla has multiplied by 3 . It's the BEST!!!

I'm still there and migrating away slowly. I have so many groups that I regularly interact with over there. All artists of various kinds. Jewelry, watercolor, cake decorating, sugar flowers...hard to pull the plug on all of those people at once.

Was searching old china patterns in hand painted landscapes by Noritake, Morimura, and ended up going down a long rabbit hole full of fun. It inspired me to paint a watercolor of a very vintage style!

I go through phases. These are from my jellyfish phase! When I'm done, it's time to paint something else! I also seem to go back to flowers. These are all done in watercolor and some blown White acrylic ink accents so simulate coral-like structures.

Inspiration comes from anywhere. Lunching at the Italian place nearby, the waitress was just about to toss her left over leather leaf fern into the trash, when I interrupted her. She was done decorating,I asked can I have her left over leaves. After I was done she got the one on the left.

Some flowers I watercolor painted from 2024 . Funny story. I planted two strip gardens, full of zinnia seeds grow my own flowers to paint. Those plants grew about 5 feet tall and went wild with flowers. I invited neighbors to bring their children to cut flowers because I was overrun. LOL

While I'm showing some of my early polymer work, I thought I would go ahead and share these photos. Polymer floral earrings with embedded wire orchids and mica coloration. Tables of desserts prepped for my rings. Miniatures are such fun!

I do phases of work. From a while back, all work in Polymer. Cuff bracelets, and faux food. "A Modest Repast" of cheese, bread, and fruit is actually a small pin. and the ring I call "Breakfast at Tifatease". Bacon, Eggs, Orange, and Hot Roll on a polymer plate molded by an antique button.

A friend shared pictures from a bonsai exhibit and gave me permission to paint from his photos. I've been working a bit on coloration for some bonsai pots. There is always joy in painting trees and flowers! Try it!

Bougainvillea and Iris that I created for putting in vases and pots around the house. These take a great deal of time to make in mass. A single flowers might take as much as 1 1/2 to 2 hours to make. With care they last more than a lifetime. Some antique work is still around and much coveted!

More french beaded floral work in brooches/pins. I guess you can tell I love flowers. It seems to be a heavy theme running through my cake, jewelry, and even painting efforts! I hope you are enjoying the photos. Many of these items are sold long ago and no longer in my possession.

French beaded flowers were almost a lost art but have enjoyed a revival. Originally these flowers were made in France and Italy to ornament the home during off season. I've taken these techniques and transferred them to wearable art. The humble glass bead becomes so much more!

Another photo where all you see is made of sugar. Cup, saucer, and all of those flowers are 100% made of sugar! It's a full size teacup and can be really beautiful atop a birthday cake!

For a festive holiday treat, crumble cake and layer it alternating with frosting and top with more frosting. Guests love being treated special and this is an elegant way to treat them after a meal! I used red velvet cake and vanilla bean buttercream here. Could be adjusted for any holiday!
