GB News loses Β£22m, taking their total losses to over Β£130m. Except it's not a 'loss', it's an investment by Paul Marshall in providing a propaganda service to platform right wing grifters, gobshites, conspiracy nutters and contrarian fuckwits.

If I was @zackpolanski.bsky.social, I would be pointing out to the BBC that whatever model they use to justify giving Farage & his boot-lickers season tickets for every BBC show under the sun must surely now treat Green Party politicians in exactly the same way. Might even be one for the lawyers...

Six Million Dollars doesn't buy much these days.

I'm off to Guildford today and then into surgery tomorrow for some, genuinely life-saving and hopefully life improving, surgery.

I'm looking forward to being Better ... stronger ... faster than I am right now - or at the very least in less pain

Good luck, Mike. Hope the operation goes well and that you are soon back on the Friday Night Politics Social Show. Perhaps you might need a sit/stand desk for a few weeks. πŸ˜‰

Uncut Trumpism. No election is valid unless they win it. Farage and Reform UK are outright enemies of democracy and the Mail is actively aiding them.

It's not hyperbole to suggest that today we have a federal government that doesn't so much represent or resemble a federal administration as it does a family crime syndicate.

Over 80% of 16 to 24-year-olds would vote to rejoin the EU, ITV poll finds

Why would you pig-headedly ignore the voice of the next generation? Why would you saddle them with debt, shrink the job market and limit their opportunities? It runs counter to everything politics and society should want for them. For all of us. They’re the future.

With reduced productivity, investment, and trade, the impacts of leaving the European Union is still being felt a decade later. As today marks 10 years since the date of the referendum was confirmed, it reminds us of the importance of repairing our relationship with Europe.

And yet the pathetic portion of the electorate that voted for it, now seems determined to place its architect into Downing Street - and organs like the Telegraph are happy to pretend they were not complicit in helping these events to happen...

How Palantir captured the Ministry of Defence

How a close read of public domain documents show how MoD was commercially colonised by Palantir

@davidallengreen.bsky.social: β€œUnless evidence to the contrary is provided to the public, it appears as if the government department responsible for defence has commercially surrendered to a single service provider.”

I have no particular knowledge nor interest in Palantir, but as a public procurement lawyer looking closely at the public domain documents about the MoD-Palantir contracts, there is something concerning going on.

Two successive high value tenders without advertisements or competition?

Really?

Good to highlight this.

I always wonder how it is that this long piece in Wired from 2017, on how Palantir takes over institutions, has not found its way into the minds of public procurement decision makers around the world.

Somehow, we need to legislate against 'Private Equity' firms - their participation in any sector is seldom to the benefit of the users of the products or services they are taking over.
It won't be easy, but it really would be a huge improvement to all, apart from those seeking short term profits.
