that said fwiw i view you as a distinctly strong and above average PT limited player, but not among the strongest in the world. i think you could still stand to improve both in draft navigation and gameplay.

i do view you as a stronger sealed builder than drafter or limited gameplayer tho

1) arena is much different from PT pod play, you are focusing on the latter
2) MTGO limited things are brutal
3) this actually means something but is low sample
4) MTGO ELO doesn't mean anything especially if you do exploration in single elim practice, as you should
5) doesn't matter one bit

Today I played good magic :) I came second at RC Vancouver and qualified for the Pro Tour and for Worlds ^^ I am delighted and overjoyed, so so happy for the team and our incredible performance (GO FAERIE MISCREANTS), and I can't wait for what comes next.

but maybe another way to put it is that while ATLA is smaller in scope that also means it's more coherent, and therefore more natural to make clean, flavorful designs out of

it feels inextricably linked to how much Spiderman and TMNT have been commercialized. i think when people think of Spiderman and TMNT they are more likely to think about the results of endless capitalist content churn, where ATLA is much more likely to be more closely associated with *just* the show

i wouldn't have taken the kithkin cards in pack 1 and instead taken the gfds and tried to build a mindrangey-to-controlling deck.

the kithkin picks in pack 1 look better if you're willing to followup with things like P3P4-5 outrider P3P8 council.

there's incoherence here. you can't believe both in taking kithkin over the gfds pack 1, and in wanting to pursue mirrorform heavily pack 3 without that much support.

going to mostly forgo my analysis today because it is basically exactly what you outlined.

i do want to add one thing though: i think your GW kithkin deck could have been good too, if you had *actually committed to it*...

yeah, i think sometimes there is an instinct to fight back instinctually against anything that could be considered "elite" or "establishment" or whatever, but somethings (like good communication and education) are possible to value *without doing so in problematic elitist ways*

i want to still take duelist p1p2, the difference is that 1) it's a meaningfully more powerful card than anything we have (where epiphany isn't) and 2) juggling two distinct lanes is much easier than three

splashing it is fine, but i think generally pretty weak to do in a synergy deck that duelist would want you to draft

hopefully this makes sense in some way. it's a little more confusing because i'm trying to divorce this thought from the hindsight "oh yeah kithkin ended up being open" that obviously should not be part of the analysis. let me know if there's something i should clarify.

this then made it hard to be in UW. but in the world where you take the GW gold card P1P3, if the same thing happened, it'd be more likely that you *would* be left with something; namely, if you followed up with white cards.

this distinction is very hard to gauge the value of, but i think it's real. for example, the actual direction of this draft involved you following up this pick with another red card, and then abandoning both. this was a thing that was decently likely to happen, and you didn't get anything left over.
