@netflix.com please consider paying Alex Honnold (and his family) more than the agreed upon $500k for his spectacular climb of Taipei 101!! He and his family deserve it! He's an elite athlete and this is a feat of human perseverance and talent. He's exceptional & risking his life on live tv!!!

I sure wish medical centers would start taking layered precautions seriously. Imagine, going for life sustaining medical care only to contract covid! They owe a duty to patients to protect them: get with the times, medical professionals!

The US economy has a new problem: Democracy is under siege | CNN Business Some political scientists see a pattern that suggests American democracy is being undermined in real time. The stakes are massive for the US economy and the business world.

Suppose you care deeply about capitalism: all the research says you would not want to elect a populist or - worse yet - rid your country of its democratic institutions. Biz folk, as fiduciaries for their orgs/shareholders, will (to their horror) need to start speaking up: www.cnn.com/2025/09/22/b...

This is gobsmacking.

Sickening to imagine someone feeding their child industrial chemicals. Always boggles the mind how many of the same people who are concerned about minuscule preservatives in vaccines are OK with industrial chemicals and other absolute nonsense.

The quote doesn't equate the battles, just states that everyone has invisible struggles, that struggle/suffering are universals, commonly ending w/ a call for kindness.

ME/CFS & fibro are hell. I wish you sublime sunshine + peace in your day, kitty or puppy cuddles if you have furry fam. 🤗💕

Covid has massively increased respiratory deaths, but it doesn't have to be this way forever. We can: clean the air, encourage masking (and mandate in healthcare settings), and give paid time off.

As at July 2024, 7-9% of Gazas population has been killed. Wtvr your thoughts are on how this war started, please read this piece & reflect on the humanitarian toll, especially on mothers and babies.

"Some 20,000 babies have been 'born into hell,' as UNICEF said in January."

On a pristine Australian island the birds are so full of plastic they crunch It's an exclusive tourist destination and one of the most pristine places on the planet. It's the last place you would expect to find birds with bellies so full of plastic that they crunch if you sque...

How much plastic do you consume? Do you try to consume less? Less is what the world needs.

Even seabirds in remote locations, within weeks of birth, have so much plastic in them that they die.

We need to ban plastics for a majority of purposes, for our future.

There’s a lot of people who want to fight fascism yet won’t wear a mask

Fascism & eugenics go hand in hand. They’re coming for the disabled and chronically ill

Wearing a mask shows solidarity with disabled people, while also protecting your health so you’re better equipped for the fight

Mask up

When you’re chronically ill, your baseline is everything.

People can’t understand why we work so hard to maintain the tiniest function, but it’s because we know the pain of losing it.

The agony of setbacks that rob us of independence and autonomy.

Protect your baseline always.

I don't think another country can step in. El Salvador has said he's a terrorist, will not subject him to due process, and won't be transferring him anywhere. Remember, they were paid $6M but US to take these ppl: they want to keep that $$. Maybe if another country offers $$ they'll rethink. 😥

This govt is rotten to the core. It's like they actively want to destroy the US and laugh at they do so.

America's adversaries rejoice at Trump's hatred of American values, institutions, business engines, & ppl. Americans must fight this govt at every turn if they wish hold onto democracy.

Well, we've known this was coming for awhile as arctic ice melts thanks to man-made climate change. Even with all the time we've had to process this reality, it still doesn't feel any less concerning to have so much shifting, literally and figuratively.

YES! Cory Booker (again) is taking action. Action is what is needed here. Action is what is needed to craft the America that Americans deserve, not the one that Trump is leading them towards, like lambs to slaughter. Do not go gentle into that good night, America.

Then of course there are the ppl who are ACTUALLY in the inner circle, like the Signal Chat folks, who are all about deny, lie, be silent and they should actually be held accountable. So much legally questionable stuff with this gov't, I hope that the US citizens get angry at flouting of the law.

There are also cases (like with the deportees) where, for example, the gov't lawyers aren't even being given talking points. The gov't is outright defying the Supreme Court, and it's legal reps can only throw their hands up because there's no reasonable defence of their clients. It's insanity.

15.04.2025 23:15 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

I imagine that there's cases where ppl actually don't have answers. Trump is doing whatever he pleases, as hoc, & ppl who SHOULD be in the know are totally left in the dark. When queried they opt out of answering lest the truth of their being sidelined & not consulted (or even informed) be known.

The hard thing about good advice is that it's quite human to ignore it and instead have to learn at the school of hard knocks. I imagine that most of us got some supplemental lessons on the relevance of Maya's insight, haha. You're certainly not alone there!

Yes, 100%! I endorse Maya Angelou's advice that "when someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time", and I think that when public people WON'T answer questions (esp politicians), you ought to believe that their secrecy is a deliberative strategy & will likely intensify w/ more pwr.

Some cannot tolerate sound, visuals, or even mental exertion; so, of course, none of above is compatible. For those limited by sounds/visuals (but not thought) going thru memories (or making stories) in-depth can be wonderfully distracting & mood lifting. Depends if you're also in pain, though.

If I had CFS at a diff time &/or place, I'd probably be sent to an infirmary or other wretched place. CFS is so poorly understood, & many drs still treat it like a mental illness (in spite of the research). So, I guess I try and feel gratitude for my situation (as best I can) + history helps that.

Those documentaries, podcasts, or other facts allow me to situate myself in history, and see that human existence has always been a struggle on a knifes edge, and therefore that my suffering (& the present chaos of the world) is just part of that continuum. In fact, in some ways it's not so bad.

2) I read/listen-to/watch history, especially things that my family/ancestors would've experienced. Often that stuff really sucks, like wars, famines, political strife, poor living conditions of people in various eras, and so forth.

I'm sorry you're in a flare. Sending hugs. <3

I do two diametrically opposed things to boost my mental wellbeing:
1) I watch lighthearted, romantic comedies, funny videos, and even look at personal pictures/videos that made me laugh or feel warm fuzzies;

Trump should recall that there's no honour among thieves. When (& if) it suits Bukele, he will tell the truth: Trump (or his ppl) asked Bukele to say that they couldn't return Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Garcia isn't a known gang member. Bukele is just doing Trump a favour, & favours have repayment terms.

My personal opinion is that Poilievre can't be bothered to answer questions from journalists because he doesn't want the truth to be known. Why else would someone make it so difficult for journalists to ask him questions?

15.04.2025 04:11 — 👍 2    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Agreed. Due process is the right thing to do in all cases. US ought to properly try these people if they actually committed crimes and let them serve in the US (if not enough evidence from criminal proceedings: let them go back to their lives!). Massive human rights abuse to do otherwise.
