PS: it's actually an extremely privileged thing to imagine that you are helping people suffering by merely standing by watching them suffer for no reason. It's privileged to think that exposure to their suffering without doing anything about it makes you a better person.

I say this with all the love in my heart because Blue Prince is incredible - working 80 hours a week for 8 years very likely made this game take longer to make than without crunch.

More time spent working does not always equate to making forward progress. Crunch often equates to negative progress.

i burnt myself out hard on catgirl for like...2, 3 years in the middle there, and im only really enjoying it/getting some real progress again now. having the safety net of a part time Outside Job has helped a lot. full time solo dev...that way lies madness.
