I'll actually go a step further and say that the repeated out of context use of "rent seeking" is indicative of bots or people with a coordinated set of talking points.

I wonder how Conrail gets the cars for interchange with East Penn over at PNE down the corridor?

I guess it's possible they bring those cars in on NS from West Falls Yard.

The compounding issue is that Bridesburg and Tacony see about 300 passengers a day combined.

For the cost of solving this problem you could make the entire Norristown line HLP and probably have some money to spare.

My guess is that SEPTA will eventually close both stations.

For the Philadelphia area that program actually started back in the 70s and was then underfunded throughout the 80s with a resurgence in the 90s.

Most of the work specifically for the Acela was north of New Haven.

Until June of 1972, the preliminary plans for Conrail had the NEC continuing to be a major freight corridor.

I think the problem was that the NEC Improvement Project and Conrail were simultaneously developing ideas. Conrail's electric freight operations continued until 1982. I'm not sure if people working on that plan in 1974 would have known that through freight would be off the corridor a decade later.

I mean, from a safety perspective it matters a lot.

Also, the track people are crossing here is a local industrial track rather than a high speed main.

Holy crap.

Just such a naked example of how only Dems are thought to have agency.

The GOP majority gets its way on a party-line vote, and @theguardian.com uses SCHUMER’S picture.

No one even knows what Thuneβ€”THE GUY IN CHARGE OF THE SENATEβ€”looks like.

Appalling choice, Guardian. Reprehensible.

This is the point. If your vaunted trillion-dollar military can't get through a few days of airstrikes because you've consolidated the industrial base so badly, then you don't have a trillion-dollar military, you just have contractors in No. Virginia getting rich

The question is does Trenton produce more Acela riders than Metropark?

My understanding is that Metropark captures North Jersey business men and lawyers heading south for meetings and hearing.

Trenton and its surrounding suburbs are comparatively poor with no real corporate juice until Princeton.

Time is a huge factor for why we don't see more craft aged spirits in particular.

Some places get around this by selling someone else's hooch under their label for the first few years.

To reel this back in a little bit, I'm having a hard time finding a picture of Kuwati F-18s mounting more than two Sidewinders. AIM-120 seems likely.

I really appreciate the fact that Ian from Forgotten Weapons goes out of his way to not discuss politics. It just makes his stuff more accessible for everyone.

I will say that if it was AIM-9s the chances of this being an accident drop significantly. And the chances of it being a harbinger of some really bad shit rise significantly.

A question no one seems to have even tried to answer yet is, how do you reopen the Straits of Hormuz without ground troops?

Yeah, I consider myself pretty knowledgeable about global affairs and someone is going to have to explain the Lithuania angle to me.

Also how? They own 0 combat aircraft.

I just saw an early 20 something’s TikTok that asked if you could drink 100 beers in a month for a million dollars and you know what I’m glad that the youth are built different now. good for them
