Every time I think he can’t possibly say anything dumber, he proves me wrong.

Yes! Loved reading them as a teen. Also Gerald Durrell.

Might be the best show on television. So peaceful and comforting while moving and inspiring.

My grandmother loved cardinals, and she even coached a gymnastics team called the Cardinalettes. That was the first bird I recognized and loved to watch!

Way down in the Act, there is this:

(2) ISSUING AUTHORITY.β€”The following are authorities described in this paragraph:
...
(E) The Department of War.
...

[There is no legal entity titled Department of War, is there?]

So many technicalities!

I figured out that if I paid the same rate as the average billionaire I would only be paying $2200 a year. That’s nowhere near what I pay now, of course.

The writing is, and has always been, fantastic. Been reading since the '70s.

All online due to the weather. In the middle of a six-week series from Ephesians. Nothing was said about any current events.

The number of good restaurants failing in my area is sobering. Primary reason is greedy landlords charging NYC rents in BFE suburban Texas. Unconscionable, and I can't figure out what the landlords get out of having an empty building for months.

One of the worst feelings in the world as a writer 😧

If it's any consolation, I imagine the second version will be even better!

Yep. Looks like they're pretty much choosing what they want to steal from him. Classy stormtroopers you got there.

"Where were you born?"

Well, Ace, looks like you were born down the road at the Pillsbury bakery. Another portly LARPer wanting to act like a big shot.

What math? Lieber is Jewish, AFAIK. I am sure he has heard the manna story thousands of times, just as hundreds of millions, nay billions, of others around the world have. If you think this is parochial, I don't know what to tell you. Write a better lead and they might hire you.

11.01.2026 00:50 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Well, considering the manna story is in the Torah and the Quran, too... we obviously will never agree on this, so have a wonderful day.

11.01.2026 00:19 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Parochial???

A story that has been read/spoken/heard by probably billions of people throughout history is parochial?

You lost me there.

Yeah, I'm not understanding the hand-wringing at this, but I guess I am not full-time, full-on angry about everything that doesn't match my opinion.

It's Dave Lieber's column, their consumer "watchdog".
