13.06.2025 00:23 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Seeing dark as "good" is still dualism, so not what I mean. The trads I'm thinking of mostly go back many centuries. While they sometimes advocate transgression of social norms, this has often been what modern society would think of as "good," such as questioning slavery and caste.
10.06.2025 16:08 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Seems like different understandings of what "enlightenment" entails, probably from differing understandings of reality? A non-dual perspective would understand ultimate reality as good and also bad. But many trads like that also emphasize compassion as the result of the realization of oneness.

The ad reads "Stop Hiring Humans" in bold white text, with the subheading "The Era of AI Employees Is Here" in smaller text, where "AI Employees" is highlighted in pink. To the right is an image of a woman with an artificial, digitally enhanced appearance, set against a futuristic purple and black background. The ad is for a company called Artisan, with the website artisan.co displayed. Above the ad is a portion of the London Tube map, showing stations on the Victoria Line.'

I agree that it was a boon to many - myself included. But I don't think that even the long form text internet was as generative in terms of forming communities that produced unique or original traditions. At least, there are none that I can point to. Maybe Usenet Chaos or The Baptist's Head.
03.06.2025 14:13 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I think there was a lot going on in the late twentieth century as well - Chaos Magic, the Typhonian and Sabbatic currents. Wicca and popular paganism saw a huge flowering in the '90s.
What changed was the introduction of the internet, followed by social media. The homogenization of global culture.
I recently uploaded a new blog post touching on how we should think about incorporating affliction into our magical practices www.photophrenic.com/a-voice-in-t...

01.06.2025 18:31 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Interesting shitpost. It reveals one of the assumptions that old Twitter baked into online discourse - the idea that "the mayor" (people with power) will see your shit. That was only briefly true and only on Twitter (never on X). That people continue to post with that in mind is maddening.

I'm honestly finding that an audiobook version of the text is much better at teaching the terminology.
