Graphic with a quote from First Minister John Swinney on a yellow background. The quote reads: βIndependence is the catalyst that will deliver a better future for us all. It can be a fresh start for all of us β putting us in charge of our own destiny and our immense resources.β At the bottom right, there is a photo of John Swinney smiling and waving in a suit and tie. The SNP logo and Scottish flag are shown beside the slogan: βAlways on Scotlandβs side.β
A better future with independence - real change that will make a difference to your life.
Independence is how we build the Scotland we all deserve.
π΅πΈ The UK should follow the example of France tonight and recognise the State of Palestine.
This is essential for peace. The ceasefire and humanitarian aid must start now.
Westminster doesnβt work for Scotland.
Independence means choosing our own future - using our energy wealth to lower bills, growing our economy, building a fairer nation.
Letβs build that independent Scotland together. Here is how I intend to do that. π

Labour are increasing your energy bills, after promising to cut them - to pay for a nuclear plant in England.
23.07.2025 12:31 β π 119 π 82 π¬ 10 π 6I spoke to @scotnational.bsky.social about Scotland's fairer approach to social security, my frustration over the inadequacies of the Union & how we could do so much more with the full powers of independence.
This should be at the heart of every debate about Scotlandβs future.
We will not cut Scotland's Adult Disability Payment.
The UK Government reforms have yet to be passed at Westminster, so there is still time for them to step back and I would strongly urge them to scrap their harmful proposals.

Green MSP Ross Greer has lodged an amendment to the Housing Bill which would require ministers to review the impact of the current system on domestic abuse survivors.
Delighted that Cabinet Secretary @sa4dunfermline.bsky.social has agreed to my amendment to the Housing Bill, which will tackle the scandal of domestic abuse survivors being forced to pay off their abuser's Council Tax debts.

Westminster has just voted to block Scotland from having control over migration policy.
The Scottish Parliament has been calling for a migration policy which meets Scotlandβs needs - but Westminster said no.

This week, analysis shows UK families will be "Β£1,400 a year poorer" by 2030.

Child poverty has fallen in Scotland - whilst rising sharply in the UK.
Absolute child poverty in Scotland fell from 23% to 17% - the lowest figure in 30 years.
SNP Scottish Government policies are working to deliver on our top priority of eradicating child poverty.
Too many commentators/media reports still accepting UKG line that cuts to PIP are about helping people back to work. PIP is a recognition of the additional costs of a disability/long term condition. It is NOT related to being in or out of work.
