13.10.2025 04:14 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I wouldn't say I've met a miserable Cumbrian, but one guy I've met dozens of times has been having an off day an awful lot of those times.
13.10.2025 03:21 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Harry Hill did "Nicholas Witchel, Phil Mitchell" in a not who you want to get mixed up a long time ago.
12.10.2025 14:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A grey day with poor visibility at the beach. The shore stretches out to the distance & another shore across the water can just be seen through the low cloud.
Grey day at the seaside. The Scottish coast can just be seen through the gloom.
12.10.2025 13:53 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0IN THE event of a catastrophic oil-spill at sea, haven't the likes of Shell and BP considered throwing a load of sliced mushrooms on the slick? Them bastards hoover up all the oil in the pan when I'm trying to do a fry-up. Plus, a bedraggled cormorant might appreciate a snack whilst waiting to be rescued. Eldon Furse, email

10.10.2025 21:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Always remember that you'll end up with umpteen litres of the finished beer at the end, so I find erring on the side of caution best.
10.10.2025 21:13 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My Brett beers so far have involved making a regular beer - then instead of bottling it, transferring it to a 2nd fermenter with the dregs of my last Brett beer in. Leave for another week & bottle.
After 6 weeks it's lovely. After 12 weeks, it's still nice but the Brett dominates everything.
A pint glass of golden beer on a table next to a jug of the same beer.
Pics or it didn't happen...
10.10.2025 19:48 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Tonight's beer is the bastard child of 1 litre of NZ brut Jasmine IPA mixed with 1/2 litre of honey, jasmine & Brettanomyces beer.
Boy does a little Brett go a long way.
It sounds like it's up there with mature cheddar & lime pickle sandwiches π
10.10.2025 19:44 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Up here the sun dips below the horizon in a couple of weeks for the last time until early March when it breaks over the horizon again.
10.10.2025 19:40 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0When I say off piste, I mean "not a run of the mill beer made with the usual ingredients, in the usual way".
10.10.2025 18:58 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This was rather off piste when I visited Glasgow last year & met @robsterowski.bsky.social who gifted me a bottle.
Fyne Ales seem to be the front runners in making wild ales in Britain with an amazing variety of fruit, herbs & microorganisms going into some of their amazing beer.
I've got all of Lethal Fizzle's early stuff on vinyl.
