5 years ago an unpredictable and radical event led to me following an entirely different life

The first time in 5 years I have exited my house by foot

I found myself in South Woodford this weekend and fancied seeing a film at the cinema, an Odeon. So I went to see The Roses. Except I couldn’t because it was only being shown on an upper floor and there was no lift so I had to watch a different film on the lower floor. Outrgeous! Very poor show

Wonderful to see my daughter, Naomi, this weekend. She saw me climb the stairs for the first time and was moved to tears. Well I guess it IS quite emotional seeing your old man walk unaided for the first time in five years

I’m loving my new bath chair

My experience of Leamington Spa train station has been entirely positive. Great staff, great café

So brilliant to be able to use my bathroom again after nearly 5 years of getting washed in other rooms

and my seeing my friend (who I went interrailing with in 1992) whose daughter was in the same class as Naomi and we didn't know
An added bonus to the weekend was seeing my good friend Martin Iddon for the first time since my injury

It couldn't have been wetter but it was a glorious day for my daughter’s graduation this weekend.

New toy

Just had 2 gorgeous weeks in the Loire, France. Cheese

Because they’re filling, they’re a complete, self-contained snack, they’re soft so I don’t choke on them when I eat, and I can hold and peel them myself no matter how wobbly I am. Brilliant

I’d forgotten how great this album is

Last night Tiff thought I was having a fit but actually, in my dream, I was teaching head banging to my niece and nephew

I've been to two concerts in recent days, the first very professional and the second very amateur. The second was extremely enjoyable and inspiring, whilst the first was embarrassing and and poor. I know who I'll be going to see next

Listening again to the Apartment House recording of the Cage Number Pieces and they are far away the best performances of these pieces I have heard. Outstanding
Makes me fall in love with the music all over again

Today, after nearly 3 and a half years, I finally move upstairs to a new bedroom and a double bed, after a special hospital single bed. We have decorators in painting the downstairs and repairing all the damage done by my wheelchair whilst I make my move.
