The Department of Education has hung a massive banner honoring a racist college dropout who built a lucrative career out of targeting professors for harassment

Michael Sacks says it is outright Jew Hate to return a campaign donation from someone with ties to AIPAC

From @politico.com: Michael Sacks, the hedge fund/private equity guy often described as Rahm’s closest confidant, who spends huge to defeat efforts to tax wealthy corporations and to support pro-charter school board candidates, calls it β€œoutright Jew hate” not to accept AIPAC-connected money.

Former ICE agent: My first day training new cadets, I received secretive orders to teach them to violate the Constitution by entering homes without a warrant. I watched ICE cut classes that teach our legal system, firearms training, use of force, lawful arrests, and the limits of officers' authority

Sacks has BEEN all over Chicago politics. The spotlight is overdue. Whatever he and Ruemmler call their PAC this week, the goal for years now has been to take out every progressive alder and have a City Council full of Bill Conways.

Lists are meant to provoke, and power doesn't equal goodness. With that said, an explicit fascist with negligible reach in Chicago inches away from an elected Black woman labor leader; one gets a cute lil' photo and the other gets a jarring, racist caricature (and called a troll). These are choices.

I received an early message-testing survey call from Brendan Reilly’s campaign. They were basically deciding HOW racist they should run with.

Rev. Jesse Jackson, a symbol of Black politics and Black America, dies at 84 Jackson may have been the most recognizable civil rights icon the past half century, but his journey always led him right back to the South Side of Chicago.

In the middle of Reagan’s counterrevolution, he led a multiracial working-class coalition when most other Democrats were cautious.

Far Right Streamer Nick Fuentes Says Women Should Be Put in β€œBreeding Gulags” Fuentes is the β€œmore energetic and undiluted voice of the American right,” writer Shane Burley says.

Last week, far-right streamer Nick Fuentes openly called for the mass criminalization of women and girls. β€œJust like Hitler imprisoned Gypsies, Jews, communists β€” all of his political rivals β€” we have to do the same thing with women … They go to the gulag first. They go to the breeding gulags.”

Is this "ski week"? My brother's family explained it to me when they lived in the Bay Area years ago. As a teacher who suffered through 25 years of Chicago winters without a magical February reprieve, I could back this. (I do not ski, but the idea of hibernating for a week sounds amazing.)

Los Angeles Police Department Encourages School
Attendance Amid Recent Downtown Activity
Los Angeles: In light of recent activity in the downtown area, the Los Angeles Police Department would like to take this opportunity to remind parents and students of the importance of staying in school.
School attendance is mandatory in the City of Los Angeles and there may be legal consequences for parents and students for:
β€’ Day time Curfew violations - It is unlawful for any minors under 18 to be in public places, streets, or amusement spots during school hours (typically 8:30 am
to 1:30 pm. The only exception includes being with a parent, authorized school activities, or emergencies.
β€’ California Education Code violations:
β€’ Mandates that all children between the ages of six and eighteen, unless exempted, must attend a full-time public day school for the full designated school day.
β€’ Middle and high school students are legally permitted one excused absence per calendar year to participate in a "civic or political event," provided advance school notification (emphasis added).
β€’ Additionally, Los Angeles Unified School District policy states that three or more unexcused absences or tardies of 30 minutes or more, can trigger a School Attendance Review Board (SARB) intervention for disciplinary action.
Parents and students are also reminded that presence at school promotes intellectual growth. It becomes more difficult to fill knowledge gaps with student absences. Attendance builds good habits and healthy routines; and provides structure and stability. Lastly, school attendance also increases student safety, which includes safety resources provided by the Los Angeles Unified School District.

Savannah teacher killed in crash by man fleeing from ICE According to the Chatham County Police Department, Monday morning’s fatal crash was the result of a chase between Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and a suspect.

ICE killed a teacher in Georgia today when they chose to chase a man who posed no danger and had no criminal history.

Nick Fuentes Wants Women in β€œGulags.” Here’s Why That Matters. "Gender has always been an important throughline of fascist politics," says Shane Burley.

I talked with my friend @shaneburley.bsky.social about Nick Fuentes' recent rant about putting women in gulags. How seriously should we take Fuentes, culturally and politically? And what does rhetoric like this reveal about the broader trajectory of the movement he’s trying to shape? We get into it.
