This morning a OneBC MLA introduced a Bill in our Legislature to repeal the Human Rights Code.

We voted it down.

The BC Conservatives voted in favour of a debating a Bill that would rip away human rights for millions of British Columbians.

These protections should not be up for debate.

We continue to take meaningful action in #BC to address #extortion with community voices at the centre. The membership of the new Community Advisory Group brings a wide range of experience in law enforcement and the justice sector, victims’ advocacy, business and the public service.

The drivers licensing system in BC needs to work for everyone. We’re creating a simpler, more accessible process, while maintaining high safety standards on our roads. These changes will help new drivers build safe behaviours and reduce barriers to earning a full licence.

Today I introduced legislation that will let people renew most licences or replace lost or damaged cards online through ICBC. This will save you time & reduce lineups, making it more convenient for people across BC to access ICBC services, especially those in rural & remote communities.

I’m encouraged to see that Bill C-14 has passed through the House of Commons recently. I’m looking forward to the Senate passing this Bill soon to make these changes law. This legislation will ensure offenders are held accountable & give us new tools to support victims & address public safety issues

New rules coming this summer will strengthen #consumerrights in BC. Starting August 1st, you’ll see clearer contracts, better cancellation options, and advance notice for automatic renewals — including services like streaming subscriptions.

Recently I talked with Mo Amir at This Is VANCOLOUR about the tools the federal government has to set standards and protect children from online harms when using social media. Protecting children from these harms is paramount, as we know tragic cases can occur when there aren’t standards in place.

During #AccesstoJustice Week, we launched a free online service for remote court registry access and welcomed a new class of sheriffs. Each step brings BC closer to a modern, fair #justice system built around people.
