Dundee’s dragon sculpture, commissioned from Alastair Smart who died before being able to carry out the work. Tony Morrow adapted Alastair’s original design to create the final work. The photo shows a bronze dragon, hunched and coiled, its body low to the ground and its head raised on the end of a long neck. Ragged wings are folded across its back and its long tail wraps itself in a spiral around a tall bronze pole. The statue is in a pedestrian precinct, with trees in the background. The photo is taken at night, and the statue is illuminated by bright green lights shining up from ground level.

β€œThe City of Dundee is full of dragons. In the Murraygate, you’ll find a green statue prowling… Atop the spire of St Andrew’s church near the Wellgate, a dragon watches the city moving below, and the crest of Dundee bears two dragons whose tails are intertwined”

SinΓ©ad's first single, Troy. Stunning and brilliant.

But I will rise
And I will return
The Phoenix from the flame
I have learned
I will rise
And you'll see me return
Being what I am
There is no other Troy
For me to burn

My Author Interview with @womenwritersnet.bsky.social asked about research for "Letters From Elena". Writing about Cyprus 2004 was from personal experience, but for 1974 I read Lawrence Durrell & Colin Thubron (ever-inspiring) and Hazel Thurston's 1971 guidebook was invaluable - and fascinating.

Looking through @legendpress.bsky.social 's catalogue is like looking at a wall of art. It 'might' be that i judge a book by its cover and it 'might' be one of my reasons for originally submitting. Or it might not πŸ˜‰

A4 Yes, indeed. And even more so back in the early seventies. Now, we might ask why April was never given Elena's Letters. Back then, it was 'least said soonest mended' and April was expected to accept events and move on #WomenWritersNet

I got a 2 book deal from the wonderful Lauren @legendpress.bsky.social for Letters From Elena and The Almost Truth. I fudged the genre in my query (I know, I know) calling them, I think, 'the literary end of commercial'. When (later on) I asked about genre, Legend said 'upmarket bookclub fiction'...
