05.03.2026 11:10 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I have managed to 3D print keycaps (same type as the BBC Master) but agree on the space challenge. Too many recent bulky machine acquisitions - including another pair of Superbrains.
04.03.2026 11:27 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Yeah, it works for now. It looks like the head has been lifted too high at some point during cleaning and won't settle back down since the copper strip has been bent out of shape.

03.03.2026 18:13 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0It has taken a strategically placed pound coin on some blutack to get this Macintosh SE to boot from floppy. A temporary solution I can assure.

Hooray ! the TRS-80 Model 4 I collected at the weekend (an early one fitted with a model III CRT driver board) is alive again.
Was sufferinig from the awful screen 'smear' on the image. Simple replacement of an open circuit inductor L301 on the CRT board and she's happy again.
Yep - had the same one from Junior school in Swansea - rode my 1977 Chopper Silver jubilee special edition to pass. Wish I still had that bike - would be worth a small fortune now.

Transformers - robots in disguise!
Had to have the case - a complete impulse purchase. Matches the real thing perfectly.
Typical. And using 6550's too - possibly the weakest RAM chips I have ever encountered.
10.02.2026 21:23 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Good Job. Similar Sunday for me too. Boiler packed up last night and a Screwfix visit this morning to source a replacement thermocouple for just £6.80 has sorted it.

Fun video - how did that veneer work out on the corners ?
I still have a couple or Horizons - can't remember the wood being quite that thick.
Oh dear - what has happened ?
22.01.2026 12:37 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I recall I have them mounted in an old 'megastor' enclosure that I wheel out occasionally when I want to cut some floppies. So occasionally, that I can't remember where it is.
22.01.2026 12:24 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Yes, I still have them (somewhere)
22.01.2026 12:14 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Got anotherTeletype ASR 33 for restoration. It was in a CNC workshop for years and was covered in grime. Its mostly up and running now after removing the grime and loads of metal swarf. Just waiting for a few replacement parts before finishing it.
21.01.2026 21:42 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Great news. Has encouraged me to have another crack at my long abandoned Osborne over the Christmas break.

03.12.2025 13:15 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0A couple of hastily 3D printed keycaps later and the Superbrain looks more complete. All up and running now. This model is a Superbrain I Jr model with single sided drives

It has cleaned up well so far. All I had to do was put a mains plug on it. I'll create a boot disk from those images you sent me earlier in the year.
Shame about the missing keycaps - quite hard to find . In the advert only the TAB key was missing so the left red key went walkies before pickup
Another Superbrain pickup in Essex today.
So far, so good. Previous owner was apparently Mr Test.
You need to go and buy another step-down and then find you original 5 minutes later - thats what usually happens all too often in my case.
28.11.2025 16:40 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I do have a couple of UK spec (240v native) Horizons. Not sure if it uses the same transformer with different windings. Not fished them out in a while.
28.11.2025 16:38 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Oh, and it came in its original box which MUST be worth another £20 right ? right ?
13.11.2025 17:25 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Finally picked up my latest Commodore Pet from lovely Bath today. Paid well over the odds but I had to have it just because of the BT (my current employer) customised ROM from the early 80's. Machine was used for Engineering education at Horwood House in Buckinghamshire.
