genuinely can recommend it to people in a similarly situation to me: intense fervor, but feeling like nowhere is matching/validating that feeling in a healthy manner. you don't even need to abandon your agnosticism.

im not back. i just wanted to share the funniest turn of events: i started going to (episcopal) church less than 3 weeks after stepping away from here. i do not have a religious background.

im gonna step away from bluesky for another few months. the sheer level of vitriol and threats directed yesterday over literally nothing has sketched me out too much to feel comfortable posting.

this isn't a difficult decision, i'm just gonna continue touching grass. dm if you want to keep in touch

will i get added to his shitty list and be invisible to a decent-sized part of the community? probably. but who cares. i'm more active on insta stories than here anyway. if the bluesky team cares at all about keeping their platform alive they need to take action.

skysentry should genuinely be banned as well. it's the kind of thing that strangles bluesky from the inside

tl;dr two separate dramas:

1. one person provided an informative thread criticizing trump's motives for attacking venezuela. somehow people got upset and sent threats.

2. a question was raised about why someone would mod a fat pair of tits onto isabelle from animal crossing. lots of discourse.

plus the desire to ragebait and get under peoples' skins leading to 4chan-level bigotry. some accounts were getting straight up outright transphobic against sky and parker while also insulting their appearance.

genuinely the kind of shit that makes me question my usage of this platform as a whole

this has gotta go down as one of the worst days on bluesky ever right? genuinely had /pol/-level vibes in here today

recently i got attacked by one group of leftists for an unrelated issue and then they decided to dig up me saying "trans people can change sex" as a gotcha as if me supporting trans women as unambiguously women on every level is somehow a bad thing. transphobia is cool as long as it owns the libs

yeah i think picking harris as VP was a uniquely bad choice. it was *very* clear that whoever was VP would be come the next presidential candidate, and she had just come off of a really bad 2020 campaign

the fact that her 2024 campaign even did as well as it did is an unexpected miracle if anything

she performed several percentage points better in targeted swing states than she did elsewhere. that's objectively the sign of a good campaign! if the environment was even 1-2% less unfriendly we would have such a different conversation.

genuinely: the blame for the election results go to biden.

the *vast* majority of people who followed the news even remotely voted for harris. meanwhile the *vast* majority of people who follow no news or highly informal sources voted for trump. she was functionally powerless to stopping that vibes-based voting and if anything stemmed the bleeding

genuinely this is a big thing. i'll also add that people nitpicking the harris campaign don't realize that the most popular nitpick of them all (her trans rights stances) is currently being used as a bludgeon by the elites to destroy trans existence

my problem is that im constantly craving indian food but getting butter chicken + naan ends up being too much food for one person. and naan is hard to reheat properly as leftovers

the only reason turkey does it is because atatürk had a firm belief that when left to their own devices, the turkish population will eventually vote in people who chip away at secularism. it feels more like a desperate fight against entropy than a sustainable model.
