Thinking beyond, this shows what is possible outside of semiconductors. One could easily extend these systems to solution-processed multilayers for Bragg filters/reflectors, but also other processed films for a number of applications such as batteries, and others with ease.

We showcase it with perovskites, but it doesnโ€™t stop there. The solution processing add-on ROSIE adds the ability to make thin films ( any really) in an automated fashion, drop-casting at the moment, spin coating coming up next.

Auf dem Mond macht solare Energieumwandlung Sinn, auf dem Mars wirdโ€™s schon schwieriger. Atomkraft sollte nicht generell abgelehnt werden. Diese ist nรผtzlich fรผr Situationen wo Sicherheit kein Problem ist (zb weit weg von allem Lebenden, also zb auf dem Mars mittelfristig).

Femtosekundenlaser sind inzwischen fast schon โ€žStandardโ€œ, man kann sehr gute Systeme mit ~ 10fs kommerziell erstehen, wenn auch nicht immer gรผnstig. Darunter, im Attosekundenbereich, kommt man an die Limits was gerade machbar ist. Zurecht vorletztes Jahr mit dem Nobelpreis ausgezeichnet.

Vapor processing of FA based perovskites is tricky. Material usage/accessible deposition rates can be low because of degradation reactions in the vapor phase, and high vacuum or close space is usually required.

We started out by looking at an aged perovskite film under the TEM and observed that the films start degrading from specific regions which we identified then as stacking faults.

Beyond Flat: Undulated Perovskite Solar Cells on Microscale Si Pyramids by Solution Processing Microscale pyramids of silicon solar cells are often considered incompatible with solution-processed perovskite films. Thus, solution processing has mainly been used with submicron pyramids that are buried under thick perovskite films with flattened front surfaces. Yet, while this modification simplifies the fabrication process, it compromises optical performance compared to conformal perovskite films (e.g., obtained by vapor processing). Here, we show that protrusion-free perovskite films can be formed on random pyramids much higher than the film thickness by tailoring the film thickness to match the pyramidsโ€™ height profile, notably without modifying the pyramid facets. Accordingly, we demonstrate perovskite cells spin-coated on over 2 ฮผm-high random pyramids with electronic performance comparable to those fabricated on flat substrates, and proof-of-concept perovskite-silicon tandem devices with efficiencies reaching 33%. Finally, we show that the undulated films with enhanced conformality enable optical performance superior to flat surfaces, especially upon encapsulation, most relevant to outdoor applications.
